    Default Free cycle?

I found freecycle about a month or so ago. I have found a newish toaster oven and today I will pick up 2 baby swings form another woman!

All things I was looking to buy and thought I'd give freecycle a shot and wait a week and if do not find I would go get.

What deals have you found on there? or another website like that one?!

I've only gotten two things from freecycle: some retail display grids (my pots hang from them in the kitchen) and a push mower. Otherwise, I used to use it to give things away. It got to be such a pain that I dropped out.

I have rugosa roses, they put out suckers every year, so I have 100s of little bitty rose bushes. And I wanted them to go to a good home. People got *mad* at me because they weren't great big things, and then I made a point of sayijng this, and people stopped picking up plants. A lot of them just died in the bucket I had them in.

I'm glad you guys have had good luck with it, but I got flamed about stuff I was giving people, and decided that it really wasn't worth it, I could take them to the dump and compost them, and not get yelled at!

I love freecycle. I have given far more then I have recieved, but I like knowing that our unwanted things go to someone who can use them. The few things I have gotten are:
~A TON of cookbooks. Most I couldn't use, or already had, so I turned around and listed all those I didn't want.
~Yu-gi-o cards. I am sure I didn't spell that correctly. There was about 200 cards in the bag.
~Thursday I am getting 6 bags of clothes for myself. I am hoping for a few articles of clothing I can/will use. What I don't want, can't wear or won't wear I will freecyle to someone else.

I love freecycle, although there are some jerks out there that send emails to people when they don't like what they are giving. I don't understand why there are so many horrible people in the world, if you aren't interested in something, delete the email, simple as that, no need to spread your nastiness around.

I've received many things: clothing for myself and my children, a booster seat, bags and bags of material, a slow cooker, a popcorn maker, a sandbox, toys, plants, and tons of books. Even better though, I've gotten rid of entire rooms full of stuff, things that I would have had to pay to get taken away. I've been trying since May to buy nothing new (like the Compact, but without any friends) and it would be impossible without freecycle.

I've only gotten a bag of toddler books which were great! Haven't requested anything else except tried getting this big wooden puzzle once. I'm not much of a clutter person so I try not to bring anything home I don't need. I've given like 50 things and it makes me feel so good when those things aren't trashed but someone else can use them instead. Yay for Freecycle!

I've picked up lots of neat stuff from Freecycle. Some fencing for our back yard, a HUGE box of boys clothing and shoes that I separated between my 2 boys, my nephew and the next door neighbor boy, a VCR, some baby formula that I got for a friend, some toys for DD...

I have given away a washer/dryer, a futon, yarn, laundry organizer, car seat, lots of misc stuff when we were moving. I love Freecycle!

    I love freecycle and craigslist.

I haven't gotten anything from craigslist but from freecycle I've gotten:

*A breadmaker, but it was missing the paddle which is $20 to replace,
    decided to re-freecycle
    *Two big bags of cookbooks
*A bag of clothes for cousin who need them
*Two room sized area rugs, are in storage right now for when we get our
own place (not got to let my roommate's animals ruin them)
*A tube of posters of country music artists (will frame and hang in our new
    place
*An almost brand new pair of athletic shoes for me!!
*Went to a couple of freecycle give-aways (leftover from garage sales) and
got a whole bunch clothes, a huge woven picnic basket, a CD walkman
(but was broken), glass canisters. My SIL went with me to one and she
got a large rectangular patio table, 1 small triangular patio table, roller
skates, toys, scented bath products (lotion/body wash).

I've also freecycled quite a bit of stuff roommate was going to throw out: an entertainment center, highback chair, vacuum, about 25 vhs movies and storage unit.

My mom has been moving and I gave away several items she couldn't take with her that none of the rest of the family wanted. Some went to a startup church and everyone was grateful for what they came to get. I've not gotten anything yet but that's ok! I do like the concept!

~I've given away about 8 times and picked up 3 times. Got 3 pair of shoes for DS, a couple pair of jeans, some totes and purses, t-shirts to cut up and recycle, and clothes for dd. I'm always seeing things I can use and asking for them but I'm always 3 or 4 on the givers list. Urg. I haven't encountered any nastiness yet. But a very entitled woman had the nerve to ask me to meet her in town to give her a bag of juniors clothes after I specified porch pick-up. Did she realize how rude it was to expect me to pack up my kids and drive into town to wait in the hot car for a complete stranger to show up so I could give HER something? And several people have showed up a day early for pick-up. When I say Thursday I MEAN Thursday!!!! I have a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to list....I should do that today.~

I got some good things at first, but now the resale "vultures" get all the good stuff before I have a chance at it. I got a set of Revereware, a set of T-Fal, some really nice solid wood tables (gave two of them away), four originally $100 bar stools. I also got a couch, not so nice, but I needed one at the time. Gave that away and got one slightly better, but still need another one. LOL Also found some broken tile that I'm going to use on my back porch. I'm sure there is more I can't remember.

I have given away TONS of stuff on Freecycle. My main problem with it was that I would find something, and then couldn't arrange to pick it up, so I missed out on it. I used to be almost an addict, when I wasn't working, but now I'm so cluttered, I have to start giving stuff away.

And people can be rude about wanting you to bring stuff to them. If I need them to meet me, I always at least offer to pay for their gas, but I've only done that once, and she was coming my way anyway.
