Wish me luck.
I'm off to the Dr today. It's supposed to be a routine check up for thyroid, however i've been feeling really poorly, not sleeping well, etc. This is the worst I've felt ina long time. So i'm gonna get a lecture...ughh.
Anyway, off to see the Dr and the vampires. I'm going to get my blood pressure etc checked. I just feel ick!

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing. Soon you will find out what it is, and you can put your mind to rest, and get on with getting healthy.

Dr. sent me to the vampires and we may be setting up for ultrasound after that. Oh well, the waiting game.

I'm still waiting on results but about 50% of the issue is my thyroid, 25% is I'm anemic and the rest of it is something to do with my monthly cycle. If I'm still horribly anemic, he wants to do an ultrasound to see what's going on in there. My mother had a hysterectomy when she was my age. But for me it started after an emergency D & C. For the first 6 mo they said it was hormones, then I was pregnant, then nursing so there was 3+ years with no monthly cycle(wasn't complaining). Then it resumed, initially things were fine. Now I don't dare leave home in teh first 48 hours as things are bad, not painful, but heavy. Like when I was hemmorhaging after losing the baby, which is why I had the d&c to start with, to stop the bleeding out. And then it becomes normal over all, but total of 10 to 12 days of a cycle, on a clock work 28 day cycle. He agrees that it isn't normal.

My periods got really heavy after I had my tubes tied. I was like you, never wanted to go anywhere during the first 2 days. I had to use super tampons and a super pad at night, and still would flood. I learned that it IS called "flooding". I actually had a whole set of underwear just for my period, so I wouldn't mess up my good ones. When I went through menopause, I flooded REALLY badly right before I stopped menstruating altogether. In fact, I flooded for 7 days, and went to the doctor. He gave me something to make it stop, which took another three days, and then I never had another period.
When the flooding first started, the doctor told me to take iron supplements, because being anemic would make it even worse. I had to take B12 and iron for a long time. I hate to think what it would have been like if I hadn't taken them!Last edited by Jaded; 08-24-2007 at 07:10 PM.

Flooding would describe it perfectly. I didn't even think of that.
I don't know that it's related to the d&c but it could be. Most commonly flooding is perimenopause, but it started when I was 28. So I don't know.
Oh well, fuel for questions for the Dr. Maybe I am low in something somewhere. Think it's time to see the naturopath.
