Uppity ATM machine

Why do these things only happen when I'm in a hurry, trying to cram in a few errands on the way to work? I was on the side of town where the bank branch is, idiotically, several blocks away from it's drive through banking. I went by the drive through ATM to get $20. I went through all the screens and got to the one where I choose the amount. I was just reaching up to touch "20.00" when the screen disappeared, replaced by the thank-you-don't-forget-to-take-your-money screen. Huh? So how much money did its little crystal ball show I wanted to withdraw? Answer: $100. WHAT? Not with the rent coming out last night or tonight!

Ok. Easy fix. Just drive back through and deposit $80 of it back. So I took out the checkbook - right. No deposit slips. So as the minutes are slipping away, I had to drive to the bank itself, in heavy stop and go traffic, park, go in, fill out a counter deposit...

Then, for the icing on the cake, I finally got to work, already running late of course, to find the local community High Poobahs were all here for an "unveiling" (no idea of what) and being sent by the police to park in OUR parking lot! I finally found one rather undesirable place, but it saved me from having to go to a more remote lot and have a Really Long Hike into the building in the blistering heat.

All because of an ATM that aspires to be my financial planner. Some days I really, seriously, dislike technology. If you made it this far, you and I both know that this is just a tiny ripple in the larger traumas of the world, but I had to grinch. Must be the heat!
