My New Washer And Dryer!!!!
Long awaited - pictures attached.
The scheduled delivery was 2:30-4:30pm this Friday - at 2:30 they called to say that they were running an hour late - at 7:45pm they rang the buzzer. They left by 8:30pm, and miraculously DS slept through the entire installation.
Next challenge - the plug that was put in for the washer was not working. It took DH about an hour today to fix the wiring, but it now works. The second load is in the dryer now. I am very impressed - I put in some cloth swiffer pads, and they are about 5 times cleaner than I ever expected them to get.
Woo-hoo! I figure at 4 loads per week, $3.50/load we'll save about $56 per month in laundry costs (not to mention having to wait for machines to be available, and people who leave completed laundry in the washers for hours on end, carrying baskets of laundry up and down two flights of stairs...). Final price to us at the store was $1536 - saved $77 in sales tax by buying on tax free weekend, the washer and dryer were also on sale ($50 off for each one, plus an additional 10% off that day), AND there's an Energy Star Rebate on the washer for $75 and a $65 rebate on installation, so final price will be $1396 - payback time approximately 24 months - 34 months if you factor in the renter's insurance we had to get first in order to be able to get the washer/dryer.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

very nice! it'll feel nice to be able to just do the laundry vs having to do all it takes to get it to the laundry off site.

Sara, I think you have my washer!! We purchased one a little over a month ago and love it. We didn't purchase the dryer to go with it yet as we are saving for it.
Ours is a GE energy saver and the buttons and knob looks to be in the same place as ours. I really love ours.~*Michelle*~

Before DH and I moved in together in this house, I lived in an apartment. It had a laundry room but only 3 washers and 3 dryers for 40 apartments, and only one set on average were actually working at any one time. So I had to go to the laundromat all the time.
I was so happy when we got our washer and dryer here.
What a joy to not have to leave your house to do laundry!“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Congratulations! You're going to save so much time being able to do your laundry in the convenience of your apartment. It's so nice to be able to throw a load on in the morning before you go to work.
