REALLY dreading going back to work Monday

Have been on vacation this week, and totally loved it!
Anyway, went to birthday party for friend/former co-worker last night & found out not one but 2 people at my office gave notice this week. Yikes. We have already had one opening for almost a year and now 2 more people leaving. All I can think of is MORE WORK for me. I have a pretty stressful job which I do find challenging and like the people, but the work load is pretty bad. I get paid well, and have good benefits, so I know I should not whine. But it is not going to be pretty at work for the time being.
I hate that feeling of dread when driving into the office. I can be a workaholic at times so I am telling myself, for my sanity ( and blood pressure) : I will not work thru my lunch breaks, will not bring work home and will be in my car leaving the office by 5 pm no matter what. That is why I put on 8 pounds in the last year!

One of the reasons I am on FV is to get support so I can pay my debts, and then maybe in a few years downscale my work to something more manageable. Anyway, just looking for some words of encouragement. Like alot of you all, when things are bad, I tend to backslide and spend $ on dining out when I work late, or snack more. I lost 3 pounds the past few weeks, so just do not want all my budgeting and dieting efforts to go down the drain when I go back to the office. Sigh. I know all of this is not a REAL problem in the big scale of things, I know people on the boards have real personal challenges they are going thru and I watch the news and see all kinds of bad things. So just needed to vent for a minute and have a pep talk. All right, I am going to enjoy my last day to myself before I have to go back to the trenches."The average pencil is seven inches long, with just a half-inch eraser - in case you thought optimism was dead." ~Robert Brault

When I went back to work I hated to go. I knew that I would be working long hours and would not see my family as much. I was right. The way that I put things in perspective is to think if I died tomarrow who would miss me more, my work of my family. That is the only thing that keeps me from working 70 hour weeks(and sometimes I still do).

Oh you're not alone! I don't have a bad job, just 3 days per week with full benefits. But the BS there is sometimes overwhelming. I've been there 20 years, and I'm anticipating layoffs, so if that happens I'll have to post to work full-time (can't give up the medical benefits).
I don't want to hear it, or think it.... ick!
I'm on vacation the week after Labor Day, and after that I'm going back to working all of the overtime I can, to get this DEBT paid off!
You said it's not a real problem in the big scale of things... but in your world it is! So I can only tell ya', you're not alone
What kind of work do you do? I'm in banking. Boring...

I took a job for "less glory." I was the service manager at a small car dealership for 6 months. I worked my butt off, had a long commute, and brought work home. I finally found something closer to home, as a servce advisor, with fewer hours and to my great surprise, when the bonus check comes out, I am making more money than before.
Even without the extra money, the change would have been worth it. You have goals that you have set forth regarding your debt, and I am not suggesting you forget those, but maybe it is time to start thinking outside the box. Perhaps you should look around and see what else is in your area.
Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks for the support. I am in insurance/financial. ..yawn. Not alot of decent jobs in my area, or even in my state unfortunately, which is why I should stop whining! So will plug along & keep crunching the numbers to keep on track with my eye on my long term goals. I know alot of folks in the same boat. If it were not for my co-workers, I would have given up ages ago. I do work with a nice group of people.

I can totally sympathise with you. I work for a busy understaffed car rental agency at our airport. I just returned to work after 2 weeks off recovering from outpatient surgery last week. I could of cried just thinking about returning.
Unfortunately for the time being, my job is a nessecity. Although hopefully as a part of pur 5 year plan, that will change.
What helped me was to tell myself that it was 8 hrs and ONLY a job! My family and home are the truely important stuff, so I'm making the best of it, keeping my eye on our goals, and leaving work AT work!
Hope your week goes MUCH better than you are anticipating.

I was having "the I don't want to go to work tomorrow blues" this evening. I find this happens to me a lot on Sunday evenings. Especially when I have had a fun and relaxing weekend. I don't even mind my job, it's just the hassle of getting up in the morning and going there. BLAH!!!

I always dread Monday mornings...I'm a medical claims processor and this is the 17th year I've been doing this. I just keep thinking of my goal...5-7 years for house to be paid off then I can go part-time to no-time.

My goal is what gets me motivated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays...
