Now see I'm just the opposite. Not that I like having DH away, but I enjoy the downtime without him.
I can do things like read in peace and quiet, watch subtitled videos, write letters, work on my geneology and craft. When DH's home he likes me to do things with him like work in the yard, etc... So its a break when he's not here. As for being afraid I have a german shepard and rottwieler to keep me company.

Default When we lived in FL, I told DH

if he was gone >6 mon. at a shot, I was getting a dog, period. And I did.

He's done that twice, although lately he mostly works from home, thank God.

Been there, done that. I hate it too; I've gotten used to it, but I don't like it.

The next time, I'm planning on starting our kitchen renovation. Can you do some long-term, large project like that to keep you really busy?

    Good luck!

P.S. The one hint I can give you is DON'T overextend yourself trying to fill up the empty space, I did, it wasn't pretty!

My Dh is a CPA and several years ago he worked for a CPA firm that required he travel. He was gone Sun-Fri every week from mid January until April. I was miserable. My best friend would come and live with us while he was travelling. She helped me with the kids and kept me company. Plus, my mom lived next door to us. I still was not happy. I like having my DH home with me and I was so lonely without him.

I finally put my foot down and told him I did not get married and have two kids just to be left alone for 3 months out of the year. I told him it was time to look for another employer and he did. He found another job, but not with a small firm instead with a major company in their finance department. They require no real travel. He may have a couple of days a year he has to go out of town for classes but we go with him since it is always good places like Pensacola, Gulf Shores or Orlando.

I totally understand how you feel. Hope the time flies by and he will be back home with you sooner than you think.

I live in the country and my fiance is gone until tomorrow night maybe Friday.
    He left Sunday afternoon
My son leaves on Monday mornings and will be home tomorrow night.
I miss them but I'm not scared.
I've lived by myself for years and also as a single mom so its no big deal.

{{HUGS}} Julie. I hear ya. My DH goes on business trips 3-4 times a year and I'm fine during the day, but have a real hard time sleeping at night. I have two dogs, but they are anything but watch/guard dogs...lol

I'm glad he's trying to help you feel more comfortable. Hopefully the days will fly by and he'll back home before you know it.
