Sigh, and he's USUALLY so well behaved (RANT)
First off, I LOVE my husband, he's the BEST and I know that no one else would ever put up with me (and not many would put up with him, lol) And 99% of the time he's the BEST, but, we're having one of those 1% times.
One of his wants seems to have become (in HIS eyes) a need, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger, and he seems to THINK he can slip it by me by finagling around it. Well, AIN'T GONNA WORK THAT WAY!! And to top it off he hit me with a major addition to it as he left for work today, his butt was already on the truck seat so I couldn't put my foot up it, grrrrrr!
It seems in his "old, advanced age" (yeah right, he's 39 and the joints ache, you'll have that when you were a power lifter for 10 years!) that his one tractor is to tough on his shoulders because it doesn't have power steering, and it's just not "big enough" for the jobs he needs to do (umm, oh yes it is!)
And, he just traded not two months ago for another bigger tractor (he has 3 total and we DO NOT farm full time!)
So, he's been working UP to what he really wants, started by saying he'd sell this one and buy one a friend has for a little more, that would be ok, I can allocate that amount for it. Well, more hemming and hawwing and talking around it, and phone calls to dealers about other tractors (mind you he does this from work during his lunch hour!)
So, this morning just before he leaves for work he brings Lil John the tractor into the front yard, hmmmm, this is fishy, whats going on here? As he gets into the truck to leave he comments "oh, the guy from so and so implements is coming to look at Lil John for a trade in on the so and so tractor they have for sale" and he quickly shuts the door and leaves before I can form the correct, calm words I need to say!
The tractor he has in mind? It AIN'T gonna happen, that money is allocated for NEW WINDOWS in this old house, and they ARE a NEED, on more winter like the last one and this farm could be listed as a small country for it's natural gas consumption! The old windows won't last another winter, the back picture window will FALL OUT during a big storm!
Sigh, and if I shoot him I don't get the widows pension (I'm KIDDING!!!!))
So, anyone want a fairly well trained hubby for a while? He's pretty good with tools but not the best at being sneaky, lol!

Ooohhh boy, I sure do feel for ya. My hubby manages to sneak in little things while he's on the road, like a new cd or what not. When that guy comes to look at Lil John, I'd let him know just where he can put his "new" tractor
I'd stick to your guns on the new windows. Let him know that you'll save a ton on natural gas and THAT money can be saved up for a new tractor.
BTW, I'm the one that wants a tractor around here
Don't think I'll be getting one any time soon, though.

Can he sell all 3 of the tractors to help pay for the one he "needs"?

Ohhhh, you try suggesting that to him, then DUCK!!!

He "needs" one hooked to the hay bine, one hooked to the rake and he THINKS one to hook to the baler, after all, that's how the "real" farmers do it, lol. But, that would put us at 4 running tractors and would be even more interesting, lol! In fact one of the three is mine but he's always using it, it's a little "girlie" tractor, just ask him. (I forgot to mention, he also has a "project" tractor for his "spare time" lol, so we have 4 total).
And Steph, wanna buy a REAL nice older john deere without power steering? LOL.

Your hubby sounds just like mine ~ SNEAKY! He tries every which way to sneak things in that he knows I wouldn't approve of spending money on! Stick to your guns! Sounds like the windows are a necessity and should come first. Good luck!

Wow you've got yourself a tractor obsessed man. We don't do heavy farming but my hubby uses one tractor (other day mowed the grass & then attached the gravel rake & did the driveway)and has attachments he puts on & off when he needs them. Attachment to me means something meant to be taken on & off, I'm guessing your hubby doesn't see it that way. Not sure how heavy the attacments are & how often he needs to switch them out. If he wanted he could come up with some pulley/hoist/jack thing to help him change the thingy's.
I think you need numerous kitchen-aids, one each for just mixing, whipping, kneeding, slicing, shredding....oh, then you need a new kitchen to house your needed things.

My husband used to do this to me. Talk, talk, talk about how this new widget is the greatest things coming down the pike. Then three weeks after he has it, it is the bigest piece of junk and has to find something else. It is so frustrating.

I sent my dh into the grocery store one day this summer for milk and bread ,he came out with a swing(ok it was on sale and I had wanted one for a long time but)I could have thought of better things to spend money on
This week he goes in for milk and eggs and comes out with a toaster oven(ok I had wanted one for a long time too lol)but with school starting and so many expenses it could have waited
Maybe our dhs should be on this website instead of us lol

I feel for you. I went to work one day and came home and my then husband (now ex) had bought a new car and it was sitting in the drive way. He said, umm .... the dealer needs your signature for the loan. Do you think he got it?

I havent met a man that didnt do these things. I am told they do exist.
Mine told me he wanted to move the pump for the sprinklers closer to the house so it would stay protected and last longer. Somehow that ended up costing over 60 bucks in new pipes and took two weekends.
