Hi from a newly frugal student in CO :)
Hi, I'm Cabra,
I'm a 22 year old college student (graduation in Dec!) and about 2 weeks ago I attempted to make my first ever budget for my family (me, my husband, 2 cats and a parrot). I about had a heart attack when I saw where and how fast all the money was going.
We're debt-free but have been living paycheck to paycheck since we married a year ago. But now Hubby and I are applying to graduate schools (law for me, graphic design for him). It's all very exciting as we've got great possibilities, but these great schools that will set us up to have the careers we dream of are in big, expensive cities. Our education funds will not cover it all.
Anyway, we figured now is the time to learn about money and being frugal before we end up in NYC or Boston accumulating piles of debt on living expenses. Better to save and develop good habits now!
I'm hoping I can learn from you all about saving money in all parts of home life--energy conservation, grocery shopping and cooking, free entertainment, and just generally tightening up a budget so we can save up and avoid mountains of debt.
I look forward to participating in the forums!
