They call me Charlie Cheapskate
Hello...
I'm new to this forum. I take pride in being frugal, relatively debt-free, and careful with money.... My wife appreciates frugality too, but sometimes becomes frustrated with me-- she calls me a cheapskate.
Anyone else have siginificant others who aren't as frugal as they are?
In my free time, I make websites... including one on frugality.
Anyway, I found this forum and the people here seem to be pretty friendly. Thought I'd browse around for awhile and maybe post a bit.
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome
It's a weird relationship we have here. My BF is an EXTREME cheapskate but will not use coupons, even when I give them to him. . .He'll go 6 months w/o getting his brake pads checked to avoid the cost. I'll go 6 months w/o AC working in my vehicle (keep in mind, I live in Phoenix and work construction) because I don't want to spend the money. He's offered more than once to put it on his credit card but I refuse. I figure brakes are more critical than AC.
He would give me his last dime and will and does take me out to extravagent (sic?) dinners and events and then will rave over mac and cheese w/ hot dogs, that I make.
He's coming around. We bought groceries this am. I spent 15 dollars and saved 40. He was helping bag up our stuff and watched the total come down. When we left, he said "You're going to make a believer out of me yet". Ha!
We both spend money when it comes to traveling. We'll go far and wide and we'll camp out to be able to do it. We did a week long trip in California where the grand total was $20 (not including gas to get there). We did a trip to Montana last summer. He left in June and camped out the whole summer while I stayed here and worked. In August, I flew up and met him and we camped out the whole time. It is one of our best memories.
So yeah, we have different priorities sometimes, but it works and I love him. Right now, I'm gearing up to fly to see my dad for his 80th birthday and BF is invited but won't go, even though I offered to pay his way. He doesn't want to take the time off work. LOL! So, there you go! Work thru it......Last edited by JerryG; 09-09-2007 at 01:58 PM.
