personal remembrance 9-11
My heart changed on 9-11-2001. For the first time in my life I had a pride in my country and the men who fought and will fight for it. Pride in the men and women who lay thier lives on the line every day in the course of thier jobs. Pride in America.
I cried, I mourned, I went on with my life. But never far from my mind and constantly in my heart were/are the events of 9-11. For the first time a flag brought tears to my eyes, the anthem, the thought of the dead and thier families. Not only from 9-11 but from all wars this country has been in.
For me the two became intertwined. The past and the present. The war casualities and the attack victims, all brave victims of a world gone mad. For me to refuse to commemorate or complain about others doing so is unacceptable, for me.
If I come away with anything from this tragedy it is this: No matter what anyone else thinks or feels, no matter how the media handles this, I am still responsible to act/feel on the changes God made in my heart that day. I will never allow anyone to dim the pride I was given in my country and its countrymen. I will continue to give this day its due respect and attention as long as I live.
This is just me sounding off for myself. Strengthing my resolve to continue on without closing my heart to the event because of the media blitz. Just me reminding myself that the men and women who died deserve so much more than I can ever give.
Thank you for the place to talk and remember. Debbie
