ARGH! Termination Dust!!
As I was driving to work today (I always look at the mountains as I'm driving...don't worry, keepin' it safe!) I saw Termination Dust on the mountain tops!! It came in last night!! :surprise:

For those of you who don't know what Termination Dust is...it's an Alaskan term... It's the very first snowfall on the very tops of the mountain peaks. It signifies the "termination" of summer...it usually comes in a "dusting" of snow. Looks like we'll have snow on the ground in 3 or 4 weeks!! I've GOT to get the cars cleaned out and the pantry stocked for winter!! Hmmm...guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend?

I just cant imagine temps that low already. We dont even get cool nights for a couple of months. Its still swim suits and flip flops for me. We do our christmas shopping in shorts. Sometimes that make it hard to get in the mood. My brother lives in Alaska and he said they have already had some snow.

Looks like you taught us all a new term. I wondered when we start to see some cooler weather.

Oy! And dh wonders why I'm getting antsy to get the fall stuff done. While we don't have snow yet (and hopefully won't for a few months) it has been getting colder. Tomorrow's high isn't supposed to get out of the 50s and the low in the 30s over night. Brrr!!!

Well alteast you know you have to be prepared, we're usually not that lucky to get an inkling when cold winter weather is on it's way except by watching the news, lol.

That sounds so wonderful! It's just now getting down into the 60's at night here. Still 80's (sometimes high 80's) during the day. We're still in shorts and sandals and running the AC.

Autumn is my favorite time of year here in the mid-Atlantic. The air is crisp and the earth is still warm.... perfect! In about a month the leaves will begin changing color. The temps are great now, too, 70s in the daytime and 50s at night.
In the winter I'm jealous of the Southern folks, and in the summer I'm jealous of the Northern folks!
