Im moving and have a where do i live for 24 hours question
I have to be out of this place at 12:00pm on september 30th but i cant move in untill October 1st at 12:00pm. So i will be homeless for 24 hours and will be living in my rental truck.
At first this seemed ok. We were going to take the rental to my Others parents house and hang out there for the 24 hours. But i found out that they charge per mile. .89 a mile x 100 miles there and back = 89.00 thats not counting any possable weirdness that might happen along the way. The miles might be more.
I barely have the money for the stupid rental as it is.
So i was thinking about parking in the back of the parking lot at the place and having us sleep in the cab of the car. Would this piss off my aprtments?
What did you do when you moved out and had no where to live for 24hours. Im told this happens so much its not funny.
Can anyone tell me if Budget Rental Trucks are Lockable. I might be able to stay at an old friends apartment who might still live where i moving.
They have or had a parking lot side apartment. I could see the truck from the first level balcony.
I have no idea what im doing. Im sorta making it up as i go along. lol

Do you have a park or campground that is open overnight, thats located between your old and new apartment? In my area wal-mart will let rvs park on the far end of their parking lot and alot of truck stops will too.

No, walmart or camp grounds near by. I will have a cub foods, aildis, junior high, small stip mall thats always full, target, kinda large mall, another strip mall thats falling apart, a high school, Super america, A and W, another small strip mall, a very large mall, best buy, toys are us, umm i think theres more i just cant think of it.
Could i possably park in any of these?

it depends on the stores and the cops. some won't bother you. others will make you leave. it depends on if they have had problems in the past. around here, there is no overnight parking in parking lots other than walmart.

Why don't you just ask the new owners to give you another day, or as the new place if you can park there? Explain the situation to the new place, and the old place, and see if they have a solution for you.
You have to buy your own lock for rental trucks, as far as I remember.Last edited by Jaded; 09-17-2007 at 10:38 AM.

I would think parking at the aprartments would be fine. Probably most would assume it is an unoccupied truck waiting to be unloaded or returned. AS long as you're not having a tailgate party or running the radio loud, etc.
If parking there is not possible I'd try parking in a lot somewhere, probably no one will bother you, however I wouldn't try it at a school, with the homeland security fears/issues, you will probably be asked to move on...after the truck is searched, lol.
What about asking a random person on a neighboring street if they mind if you park it in front of their house. If you explain your situation and it is common...if I was the homeowner, knowing it was only overnight, I wouldn't mind.
Good luck with the move!

Can you afford to rent a cheap motel?

we ended up renting a cheap hotel, through the internet. I only ended up paying 25 for a double on an off night.. good luck..Also you know I think you could probably call the apt and see if they have it ready to move in and explain the situation. If it is already empty I don't see the big deal. Or if is such an inconvience to them then find out what it would be for the extra day and tack it onto the monthy rent.. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

They will not let me move in early. And this place wont let me move out late. I tryed talking to them on three occasions.
The hotel idea is great. I wonder if theres a place around here that i can bare. What are good ones? I have never stayed in one before.

Motel 6, Super 8 or Days Inns are usually good bets for fairly cheap rates and (usually) decent accomodations. When we've traveled, I've often seen rental trucks in the parking lots, so others probably have to do the same thing.

If worse comes to worse, go to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Sometimes in situations like this, they'll pay for a motel for the night, or let you park in their parking lot.
Wish you were here, you could stay with me.

Try asking any churches in the area if they will let you park in their parking lot for that one night, and ask them to give you written permission in case the police question your right to be there.

Is this move due to the recent fire you posted about? If so and you had renters insurance with coverage for temp living expenses, you could rent a hotel room and seek reimbursment. Good luck.

oh wow, i forgot all about that. Kinda funny when i still see the burn marks on the side of the bulding everyday when i come home. lol.
The firemen wouldnt let people in because they were running around the bulding and people in the way would be bad. They let people back in a few hours after i called my insurence agent. lol
I was planing on moving 10 months ago when i figured out that this place was bad news.

If you can not find anywhere else to stay, I would just go to a rest area and park overnight. Not comfortable but better than getting thrown out of somewhere you shouldn't be and they have bathrooms.
