Prayers for DH please
My DH has been in the hospital since Saturday. We THOUGHT he had food poisoning, but he actually had a complete intestinal blockage. Come to find out, he still had his diverticulita (sp?), a piece of the intestine that is attached to the umbilical area and normally disappears a few weeks after birth. It would fill up with waste and block his large intestine.
He came through surgery just fine--the surgeon gets high marks from the many friends we have who work at this particular hospital. The anesthesia made him pretty loopy and he got freaked out that his boss would fire him for being gone so long (he doesn't have enough vacation days left to cover this and they don't get sick days). I have a ton of both, so at least my paycheck won't be affected. The fun part is figuring out how I am going to pay for the portion of this that our insurance does NOT cover.
I hope this will clear up the twenty years of IBS he has dealt with. The surgeons haven't ever seen anything like this. There was a completely square area on the CAT scan that looked like a DIE in his intestine! We still don't know what that was.
I am exhausted from putting together the Scout Court of Honor for him (that was last night). Another two folks from Scouts came over and helped me with it. I will be forever in their debt for their help. DH is very shy and often says he doesn't have any friends. Well, last night certainly proved THAT wrong. The guys passed around a huge card that everyone signed and there was a prayer for him. By the end, I had tears running down my face.
My sister helped me out a ton as have others. Friends are sooo nice to have at a time like this! One of our friends is a surgical tech and she actually worked on Mike today. She also took me to lunch at the hospital cafe and took me back to the staff room to share lunch time with the other nurses and techs. One of our other friends (the hunky doctor whom I have spoken before) offered us money out of the blue if we need it to pay our medical bills! I was crying when he said this. He said, "I know you're not asking, but we've got you covered if you need it". My inlaws have been out (of course) and sat with Mike while I ran home to take out Gypsy and my sister's dog (she's out of town on business). My sister was with me when Mike called from the ER and came with me to take my car home. She also fed me that night after I hadn't eaten in almost twelve hours and let Gypsy out for me.
Any way, please keep him in your thoughts. I will update you in the next day or so.

My prayers are with you and your dh. I was operated on two years ago for an intestinal blockage. I also had IBS at the time. Its a bit better now but it still exists. Everyone is differerent however, and this could heal your dh's symptoms. GNC sells digestive enzymes that help those with IBS.
