    Default Jury Duty

I've been dreading this.....I just went to my mailbox a few minutes ago and there was a summons for jury duty. Last time I was able to get out of it. This time......I highly doubt it.

~I had it last year. I REALLY wanted to be picked but the defendants were my doctors! I had fun but everyone else there looked miserable. I must be a little ~

My husband just got finished this week being picked for jury duty. Monday he sat until about 11 and they sent him home. He had to check every day after 6 to see if they needed him. They called him back on Wed. and he sat till 11 and they dismissed him. So maybe you will just luck out on it.

I've never gotten picked. I've had to go, but then they always plead quilty, and I get to leave.

I'm scheduled for Jury Duty next month. It's kind of nice that they waited until I left my full time job to call me! I've been here 11 years and this is the first time I've had to serve. I, too, would like to be chosen for a jury. I think it would be interesting.

Be careful what you wish for. About 2 years ago I called once a month and served on a grand jury at the same time....I got really sick of it.

I've been called 5 or 6 times but only got picked twice. One was a case where a guy wanted his child support reduced and the other was a divorce situation----the woman had thrown acid into the man's face and then wanted him to pay megabucks for her support!!!!! And she had blinded him. She was asking for money every month for dog grooming, etc. It was hilarious. The man may not have been a good husband, but this woman was vindictive. And he got on the witness stand (he had to be led, since he was blind due to the acid) and he said, very quietly, "I just want out of this marriage."

I can't remember how much we gave her, if anything, cause it was over 20 years ago, but I'll never forget the sight of that blind guy in the witness chair.

I have been called but never picked. My sister did a murder trial once and said it was awful and had nightmares about it.

DH and I have never been called upon for jury duty. Out of my extended family ( my mom, dad, MIL, FIL, 4 sets of grandparents, 14 aunts and uncles and 6 cousins) only one has ever gotten a letter for jury duty and he was never picked for a case.

I've never had to actually be on the jury. I've always had a high number, and the jury was filled before they got to my number. I would call and they would say "call back this afternoon and see if you need to come tomorrow." I never have.

Part of my job is working Jury Selections. We have jury trials in 4 week blocks. . .so for 4 weeks, all I do are selections and trials. It gets old for me.

The faces of most people show their disdain for being there, but there are always a few that are really very happy to be there and to serve.
