Freaking bank error!
I'm so ticked off...
USAA Bank is having an issue with some debit card transactions. Some transactions are going through twice.
If anyone banks with them watch your online bank statements.
They claim that the error with my account isn't the same as the rest of the debit cards, but I'm not sure.
Publix charged me twice in error. I have to call USAA again in the AM to have their dispute dept. start a file on their end. I just got back from Publix to get them to fix it. Of course no one can fix a money mistake as fast as they can take it.
Basically what happened in my case is on the 29th of Sept. I tried to get $20 over on a debit transaction. The debit wouldn't go through and 3 attempts were made. So then I had them run it through as a credit and it worked. My receipt says $81.33. On my online banking today there is the credit transaction for $81.33 and a debit POS for $101.33. Um hell no!
I'll update when I hear what USAA is going to do. I want this off ASAP. Over $100 error isn't spare change.

The bank we used to deal "lost" a debit withdrawal I made from their teller at their branch! Then they claimed that when it came through, it overdrew the account by $100!! It was all a big mistake, and it all came to nothing, but it was a big hassle. Had to take half a day off from work to straighten it out.

We do all our banking with USAA and have our insurace, credit card, and car loan with them. So far I have not had any problems with them and we have had them for 4 years now. I'm sure they will do everything they can to get this fixed. That is one thing I really like about them is they have super customer service. I have never talked to anyone at that bank that was unfriendly. Hope everything gets straightened out for you soon.

We have insurance through them. We used to have an account with them and never had any problems but we closed that acct ages ago.
I once had a bank enter a $10 check as $1000 and completely wipe out my acct. Fortunately they apologized and fixed the error ASAP.

Okay, the $101.33 error has been fixed. Apparently almost all the transactions done on Sat. got messed up.
But now because of a cashier's error at Walmart this AM I have 2 pending charges for $30 on my account. I did get a copy of the cancelled transaction and called USAA and they said that in 3-5 days one should drop off and one should go from pending to actual.
That's it...no more spending $ this week. I've got bad debit card karma.

double billing
It seems here in montgomery everytime i go to shoneys to eat, thier machine messes up and have to run my debit card thru twice and 9 times out of 10 both will show up on my online bank statement. But normally 2-3 days later one drops off. I keep a close eye. Another thing i have noticed. is when i leave a tip by telling the cashier to add 3 dollars or whatever to the bill. It shows up on my bank statement. But when i hand write the tip and add it up. It doesnt show the tip on the statement. I wonder if the waitress doesnt get paid or maybe a few days later it catches up with my bank and i just havent really checked it well enough.

I just have insurance with USAA, thank goodness. But I have had my share of bank mess ups. Once my credit union "lost" a $200 deposit I made into the ATM. I had my receipt and everything, but it took a few days to straighten out. Bank stuff can be so frustrating!

*former server speaking lol
When you have the server or cashier add it, it's part of the original transaction. When you write it on the line it's a second transaction that's usually done a few days later when reconciling all the cc payments. However the server does (usually, depends on the establishment) get her tips that were part of credit/debit transactions that same day. The restaurant pays the waitress then when the funds go through from the transaction, they pay themselves back.
