Newbie from Louisiana

Hi everyone! I'm Jennifer and new to Frugal Village. I'm really looking forward to learning a lot here.

How did you hear about frugal village?
I found it on a google search.

What interests you here?
My husband Scott and I are contemplating the possiblility of his taking an early retirement. We'd have to reduce our expenses to do it so we're giving it a try to see how we'd do.

How many kids? Ages?
We have two. Sam is 22 and Lizzie 19. They're both in college at LSU. Liz lives on campus, Sam with us. We're a multi-generational family and live next door to PawPaw, my father in law. He has Alzheimer's and is sort of my third "kid".

Tell us about yourself.
I'm 47. Scott and I have been married for almost 27 years. Before the kids I worked as a conservator in an archival collection. I've been a SAHM since Sam came along.

Do you own any pets?
Yes, quite a few. We have two dogs. Annie is a border collie and Scott's constant companion. Jack is a Shih Tzu and will follow anyone with a Beggin' Strip in their hand. Scott also has two horses Rocket and Sugar. Rocket is Scott's cow horse and they participate in cattle herding competitions. We're also taking care of Tai Thai, Liz's Siamese, while Liz is living on campus.

SAHM or Working mom?
I'm a SAHM. I am my father-in-law's primary caregiver. I'm with him six days each week and a few nights as well. On most nights he sleeps next door at his own house where Sam looks after him

Married or single?
Very happily married.

Interests and hobbies?
I like reading, particularly history and anthropology. I also enjoy travelling and have done quite a lot of it in my time. I really enjoy planning trips and seeing how much fun we can have on a limited budget. I like visiting cities, especially for the museums and theater.
