Default My car was broken into!

Grrr! I didn't really notice it until I reached my first patient's house today, because they didn't break any of my windows to get into it. The doors were all locked so they must've used a slim jim. My medical bag was stolen from my trunk. (Which can be accessed from a lever in my car.) I called my DH to ask if he had taken my bag inside last night and he went out to check the other vehicles. they also got into our truck and rifled through the glove compartment. Thank goodness there was nothing of any value there, but we weren't the only ones hit. People all up and down the street were making reports and our 69 year old neighbor across the street had his Mini Cooper stolen from his garage, which he probably accidentally left open when he got home last night. What a bummer! They found his car at an apartment complex about 5 miles away, totally stripped.

I feel fortunate that the only thing they took was my bag which only had a theremometer, gloves, blood pressure cuff, etc. in it and my company already replaced all that. Thank goodness we didn't have anything more valuable in our vehicles. This sure is a wake up call about how easy it is for someone to access our vehicles and, unfortunately, how careful we have to be. It just p****es me off how these jerks can do something like this to others.

I'm so sorry. I had my car broken into years ago and I felt so violated. So glad you are ok.

That's terrible. Something similiar happened in the next town over in a gated community with a security guard. It was a bunch of kids on bikes and the parents were putting them up to it. What a shame!

I'm sorry that happened to you. That happened on our street last year. In the middle of the night someone stole a ton of my neighbors stuff out of her unlocked car. They went through dh glove box but there was nothing to take. I still felt so violated and unsafe!! That's too bad about your neighbors Mini...I love those cars!

That's a shame. We had our car stolen once and someone tried to steal our van. It obviously wasn't someone smart because our van had those burgler proof stickers in both windows.

I wonder if they were hoping to score drugs from your bag.

I am sorry, that sucks big time. I hope that the police catch the person(s). And I am glad they didn't break your windows etc. Big hugs to you.

Happened here last Friday night to DH work truck. He was stunned to walk out front and find the doors hanging wide open and the whole dash taken apart. They must have gotten interupped becasue nothing was taken. We have alot of dogwalker in our neighborhood at odd hours.
    I too felt anger.

That stinks, I am only happy that at least you were not persoanlly involved. Better your kit than your life, you never know what to expect from people these days. It is so sad that people need to be like that, I understand that there are some people that are destitute and do what they need to do to survive, but most of the people that break into cars like that are not those people. My aunt left her car running to run into a friends house here one day and came out and realized her purse was stolen and this is just a regular family neighborhood. They found out later it was kids, but this was after she had to cancel credit cards and her cell phone first, as well as getting a new DL. So upsetting for you, I am sorry.

When we lived in Florida a few years ago, the apartment complex and a subdivision behind us had over 100 cars broken into in one night. The cars broken into were all chevys (I think that was the make) and were all like 02-04 models. As far as we know they never found out who did it, but we always felt is was someone with a master key. Or maybe someone with a key like mine. I have a dodge van, but we discovered in Florida, when dh used the wrong key. That my van key would unlock his company truck...wouldn't start it though. With curiousity getting the best of him he tried almost all the company trucks. And my van key unlocked them all. My van is a dodge and these trucks were all fords, made about the same time as my van. He now has a newer ford and my key won't unlock it.

I am so sorry to hear about your car.
A few years a ago some one came though our neighborhood and broke the driver side mirrors off a couple dozen cars. It was only a mirror, but I still felt vulnerable. Luckily they caught the kids and they were forced to pay restitution.

I'm sorry, Michelle. We had a rash of breakins in my neighborhood last year. It was teenagers. Yours sounds more like pros. I hope your neighbor can get his car replaced quickly.

That stinks!! Glad you didn't have the cost of a window replacement or theft of anything of sentimental value. Hope they catch them.
