    Thumbs down Insurance Vent!

DH and I have our health insurance thru his employer. Two years ago we switched to Blue Cross (DH is given 2-3 companies to choose from during open enrollment every year) and we have had nothing but problems. The latest and last straw was yesterday when I found out the hospital we are assigned to is no longer taking Blue Cross. Blue Cross owes the hospital millions of dollars and is refusing to pay! The hospital has been trying for over a year to make a deal with them, but they refuse. So as of Oct. 3rd we are without hospital coverage. We can still use the hospital, but they will send the bill directly to us and we will have to fight it out with Blue Cross to be reimbursed! Like that would ever happen!

Anyway..... we will have no coverage until January 1 08 when our new insurance kicks in. Whatever that will be....open enrollment starts the beginning of next month. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that DH and I stay healthy for the next 3 months.

Hospital "assigned" to you? There isn't another in a neighboring town that takes bc that you can use if need be?

Hope you stay healthy & that you can get some money back from your current co if they can't/ won't cover you.

at least you have insurence. i have had none for 1 year!! the kids havent had it for a few months. dh's employer is trying to help us under the connector plan because we have been denied. his bosses boss has hired an lawer to make sure we get some coverage. we were not suppossed to be denied because her in mas everyone must have coverage. but i think thats only if you lie your ass off. honest people doing things the right way get shafted big time around here. anyway we resubmitted the paper work last week i hope to hear something within the week. i really need my meds for antinflamation for my condition as the pain is getting pretty bad.wish us luck!! good luck to you too.

BCBS is horrible, and it's the only choice I have at work. I did choose the PPO over the HMO. It's a little bit easier to get them to reimburse for that one, for some reason.

I'm facing surgery in November, and I don't even want to see what the bill will be after they deny everything.

we've had bcbs for nearly 7 years and have never had a problem. the only thing we're really out of pocket on is er visits, they're 250 a visit. how does a hospital refuse a certain insurance company??
