I Will Not Cry......
or scream. I just got off the phone with my ex who had just gotten off the phone with our son. And here is what he told me.......
JOSH HAS RE-ENLISTED FOR ANOTHER 4 YEARS!!!!
His 4 years are almost up....I've even started counting the months until he comes home....which would have been March 08. I'm just numb.

Awe JOY
I am sorry you will not get to see your son as soon as you could. However, I assume he recognized some of the good that the military has to offer a young man and family. I pray he stays safe and enjoys his reenlistment and keeps his mom informed and visits often.

I am sorry for your mommy heart. You must be pretty upset.
I want you to know though, that I value your son's service to our country and the people who's lives he will change by serving in the military. Thank you.~~ Missy ~~

I'm sorry for you.
I'm happy for him, if that is what he wants to do.

Joy,
First off can I say, "You raised one heck of a man there", I am proud for you. And I thank you and your family for your service to this country.
I am sorry that you got this news via the ex though, I am guessing that your son was a little scared to talk to you. (big warrior a little scared of his mother : ) he didn't want to hear you cry would by my guess.
Please take care of yourself!
Warm Regards,
leezza

It's kind of like a double edge sword. He's your baby and you want him home . . .and yet it's men and women like him who are dedicated in serving our country. I know you are VERY proud of him!

I'm sorry you are so upset and my heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the worry you must be filled with. I do applaud your son for his maturity and bavery. It is a very big sacrifice, for both parents and their children, when your child decides to dedicate himself or herself to our country.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I'm doing better today. I was pretty much just in shock yesterday. I realize I was just being selfish. Josh is an adult and very capable of making his own decisions. And after weighing all the pros & cons....I do believe he made the right decision for him and his wife (they've been married for a year and a half). I figure I've done this military mom thing for almost 4 years....what's 4 more, right?

Joy, my heart aches for you because I know how it feels to have your son in the military and away from home. I am always a nervous wreck because you just never know where they will go next or what they will be doing.
I am also very proud of your son for the service he is providing to his country. You did a great job, mom!!
