So mad at Sears
On the 15th of Sept. I ordered a $50 gift card for my mom's b-day from sears.com. After weeks of waiting to hearing if it ever showed up I finally called Sears.
Get this crap!
They never mailed one! Even though they sent me a confirmation email that it shipped on the 19th! Their gift card making machine is broken and no one from Sears thought it might be a good idea to contact the consumers that ordered one from the website. Nothing. So I want to cancel the order and want a refund. Yeah, they charged my Discover card and never shipped the goods. Last time I checked that was illegal, right?
So they said they'd try to stop it. Um, no. YOU WILL REFUND MY MONEY AND STOP IT! So, then they say that dept. is backed up. Like that's my problem somehow. Anyway I repeat that I want it cancelled, refunded, etc. and I'm refusing the charges.
So, I call Discover and they said they'll refund me ASAP and go after Sears for the money and I don't have to do anything else.
So, I'm done with Sears...

Man, that is very wrong! I'm glad you're getting your money back through Discover. What crummy customer service.

Great. I was worried about that. I ordered some clothes from their website last week but didn't get a confirmation email. I called today and after transferring me 4 times, the last customer service guy told me they were still processing my order. I said, it's been charged to my account and if I don't get a confirmation on my order tomorrow I'm filing to have the charge removed. Grrrrr

I used to work at Sears. They suck. I saw stuff like this all the time and tried to fix it. I got labeled a trouble maker. Probably the real reason I got fired.

Practices like that are probably why their sales have slipped so badly. Good for you for pursuing it!!

oh dont get me started on sears! we ordered windows from them and signed a contract that i would pay x amount every month. 2 months later they want to double it to 'help me pay if off faster' but i had to opt out if i did not want to take part in this. so i opted out and got my comfirmation letter saying they received it. did it make my payments stay the same? of course not. i fought with them for 3 months after that i opted out and received their letter stating i was opted out and told them i wasn't going to pay more then what we agreed on and that i was turning them over to the bbb. i finally just took out a loan thru our credit union (at a lower rate and got money back for switching our loans to them) and paid sears off just so they would leave me alone. it was a nightmare.

That is just soooo wrong!!!! I hope that you get everything straightened out and that you can figure out another gift idea quickly. It's too bad this happened on your mom's birthday.
If I had that happened to me, I'd walk right into the closest Sears store and make the biggest, loudest stink ... loud enough for everyone in the store and half the mall to hear. They'd give me a freebie just to shut my big mouth so all their other customers didn't hear me shouting. Then I'd visit the other Sears store in town and make sure everyone in that store heard about it too. I might even hit the Kmart store (since they're owned by Sears) and shout there too. I know, I know, maybe a bit much but it sure would make me feel better. I always look at it this way, if they've 'screwed' you, how many other customers have they 'screwed'?Kim

I recently had a gripe with Sears too, although not this bad. I walked into the store, asked for some help finding the part numbers for parts to fix my sewing machine. All I got was a sales guy telling me to go to the store computer and look it up myself. I couldn't believe it. I am not going back to Sears.

and tell them your story. ( tell them what store)
Especially the store whaere you were told to look it up yourself...

My son worked there part-time for a while. He became a sales person, but quit after a year. He couldn't get along with the management. Their only concern was selling worthless warranties and signing people up for credit cards, and they will actually fire an associate who doesn't push this crap. Customer service? It wasn't their goal. If my son spent too much time helping a customer with a problem, they would actually yell at him.

We purchased a pressure washer from them 2 years ago (after swearing I would never return to the store). It worked for one season. The 2nd season it broke, and their "customer service department" can't even get the part needed to fix it.
Too many other stores out there to ever bother with Sears again!

Ok, first of all I'm NOT sticking up for the stores or defending them, but just pointing something out.
Sears and the other store they own are constantly taking a beating from that HUGE box store out there, how can they compete?
Sadly, they're "competing" by cutting customer service in ALL areas. I see it personally and it's REALLY sad.
I blame a LOT of it on the corporate offices, so many of those employees have NEVER EVER dealt with the public, they go right from college to a cubicle.
All they want is the bottom line CUT, they don't care how the customer is effected, they want the hours DOWN and the dollars UP.
Sad, isn't it?

You know I understand that they have major competition, but if they can't even mail out a gift card then they need to close up shop. Customer service is really easy to be good at. What kills me is how no one cares anymore.
I used to work customer service and retail. I guess that's why I get so upset with rude associates and inept sales practices.
My mom is flying in for my dd's 1st b-day. I'll take her shopping in stores here but I won't take her to Sears.

Like I said contact upper management. That is not how they want it.
The big shot of Sears will go to a store he hears is giving problems to the comsumer. he makes spot checks all the time.
He goes in as Joe Smoe.
One of the stores here was checked that way recently and he asked a polite question to a clerk. The clerk was very rude and when he said something the clerk said whats it to you. (wrong thing to say that clerk was fired on the spot and all heck was
going on at that store manager was demoted and that is a very friendly store now )To be One With The Universe In Spirit, Mind and Body
