Oh God help me. I'm babysitting a JRT for about 2 weeks. I'm picking him up in a few minutes. I'm not very experienced with small dogs, I've heard them referred to as "Jack Russell Terrors". I have an old Belgian Malinois who just wants to be left alone, and 2 cats who are gonna be VERY unhappy about this. I have a quiet little home that I anticipate is about to turn into a three-ring-circus.
Stop laughing and wish me luck!

Yep, it's going to be a fun 2 weeks.
I love Jack Russells. They are a bit on the hyper/yippy side, but they are such wonderful loving little pups.
Enjoy your time with him.

oh my gosh...our first dog was a JR...we LOVED him...very hyper. You will most certainly have tons of fun and run your butt off if you try to keep up with him/her...good luck

LOLOL, you'll be tired before you know it, they ARE little terrorists! We don't have jacks but have 4 rat terriers, trust me when I tell you your yard will be varmint free, your cats will have nervous breakdowns and your husband arm will be tired from throwing the ball.
Oh, and they bark at bug farts too as we say here (meaning most of the time NOTHING AT ALL!)
Post pics of tuffie!

JRTs are extremely busy dogs who need lots of exercise and a job to do. See if you can set up a play date with another small dog. Of course, make sure he's fine with other dogs before you do this. Many terriers are iffy with other dogs.
Take him to a park and run him up and down the slides and over bridges. if he will play fetch, get a frisbee out and wear him out that way!
Good luck; you and your Mal will be very tired when you're finished with this job!
That's another thing--go for walks. We go for two big walks a day. I have dropped a jean size just from this dog.
