Grrrrrr...
I'm absolutely livid right now. Someone my husband works with just called to let us know (while we're driving to go on vacation nonetheless...) that my husband isn't going to be getting a commission check this month. Which is absolutely great being that we only have thirty dollars in our checking account. We had a lot of unforseen expenses this month and our checking got drained (late september we were at closer to 2k) so this just the icing on the cake right now. We have officially went from being frugal by choice, to being frugal due to circumstance.
Sorry for the venting, my head is just swimming right now with math trying to figure out if we're even going to even have enough for groceries.

Sorry about the the check thing.....although the timing couldn't be worse the guy at your hubbies work kinda did you a favor by letting you know so that way you don't spend money with the thought that something is coming in that isn't.....did the friend say why your DH wasn't getting his money????

This was someone that your husband works with? Not a boss or someone from payroll or accounting? How & why would he know if your DH wasn't getting a commission check? I would hate it if a co-worker knew what I was making. I hope he's wrong.

The guy who told him is somewhat of an 'assistant manager to the assistant manager' and head over the area my husband works in. The big boss of the companuy verbally guaranteed dh that even if he didn't meet his quota he would get 1k commission per month on top of the 2k per month he makes salary. The only reason his quota wasn't met was because he was told to stop worrying about writing up phone sells and to let another department do it - which would make it so that he didn't make commision off the sale. He agreed to do that and just focus on IT work and generating new business...
So that's what he has been doing because he was told to, and because of doing that he didn't meet his quota and they are with holding commision. This has happened before (not meeting the quota because of sending phone sales through another dept.), but because of their verbal agreement he has always been given his commision.
Earlier I heard him talking to the head of his dept. And saying how he thinks the company may be losing money, so the boss may be breaking the verbal agreement because he knows it isn't in writing and the company needs the money.
Sorry if none of that made sense, it sounds better when the hubby talks about it because he knows more of the business jargon lol.
I'm not saying it's completely unfair, but it just sucks that it never got put in writing you know? We can't live off his base salary with everything we're having to pay out right now
