seeing red
My eyes are just red with
I coudnt get any madder if somebody kicked my dog
Last wednesday I paid off my JCpenny card by phone. I authorized a one time payment of 459.08 . Well it took them several days to do the transaction and then they did it TWICE
I checked my balance on-line and it's exactly 459.08 less then what it should be. NOW I cant pay my untilites until monday makeing them LATE!
I called three times to speak to some jerk who just lets his voice mail pick up then he doesn't return my call. He finaly called at 1:30 today and said he did return my calls and left me a messeage. UM, NO I checked the machine. Anyways he says they didn't take the money twice and I tell him my bank says otherwise. He then tells me to fax him a copy of my bank statement, As if I have a fax machine. I tell him I don't and he says go to an office supply store. Sorry bubby by my babies is a sleep I can't go this second. He then says well if this isn't done by 5pm today we can't refund your money. You only have four days to refund money. WTH!!?? NOW I AM TICKED.
I start to lose my cool and scream at him. Let me get this straight you take my money and then you tell me that if I don't catch you in 4 days you get to keep it. Im still in the middle of trying to get to the bottom of this.

Let the bank know. Let the utility companies know and ask if they can extend the pay date without penalty. Get the guy's name and talk to his supervisor. Visit the website and read their policies. Someone along the line has stolen from you and you have every right to be angry.

Ann,
I have a better idea: if you can't get help over the phone.....
Go to the local store customer service place and get someone to help you in person......have your bank give you a copy of any paperwork you may need and then go in there loaded for bear...

I call the
flag on the 4 days to refund money crap. I agree with going into your local JCP as well as letting the bank know and contacting your utility company. Even if you can get them to reverse the charges, the money will probably not be back in your account for 5-7 business days. Funny how they can take it in an instant but when it comes to giving it back it takes 5-7 business days

Definately get your bank involved. If you can't get into your local JCP then call and ask for a manager. Tell them what happened and tell them you will file with the BBB and the police if neccesary. THAT seems like fraud to me.

file a dispute with your bank they should be able to tell it was doubled and the bank should be able to fix it for you

Go into your bank immediately. You can file a dispute claim saying you authorized it one time, but they took it twice. The bank will provisionaly credit your account the money while they investigate on your behalf. (This is a federal regulation--believe it's REG DD).
Also, did you pay by card over the phone? What you could be seeing is a preauthorization amount and then the actual transaction. If that's the case, the preauthorization will drop off your account.McD

I have found out that all the transaction that were done on that day were double debited. Appatently they are swamped with calls about it. Unfortunatly for me my account is not one that they can see that it was double credited. Dont know why I have to be the odd ball. Anyways I did file a dispute with my bank and I have been assured by JCP that I will be refunded. Either way I will get my money I just dont know when.
I agree that the 4 days thing is BS but I just couldnt believe he had the nerve to say something so stuppid.

I am so sorry for you. I think it would kill me to have one doubled. Hang in there. That is why I use my banks online for paying bills. That way it is all in one place..
Goodluck, I would think it will be resolved JCP has been around a long time, at least they aren't a fly by night company..
