Made money on my way home!!
So DH and I came to visit his family, and I've got to fly home before him because of work. I was waiting to board the plane when they offered $200 if youd volunteer for the next flight. I didn't think much of it until those $200 quickly became $300, and then $400!!
As soon as they said $400, I was all over that counter. I only have to wait 50 minutes for the next flight and I got a travel voucher on American for $400! DH will most likely be flying quite a bit before the end of the year so this will really come in handy, I was pretty excited about telling him
So now I know to give myself plenty of time if I need to fly somewhere, because if I'm flexible, I might be able to make some money off it in the end.marie/andrea

yay! WTG.
Dh travels a lot and he will often offer to take a later flight. With his last trip, we have enough free tickets to take the whole family on a spring break vacation this coming spring. You did good! I think they are usually good for a year too, so you have plenty of time to use it.

Wow $400!! Great deal even though its a voucher.
When I was flying home on SouthWest from Vegas, my dad and I overheard the attendants state that the plane was 'overweight'
They needed 2 passengers to get off and were trying to figure out who had to announce the offer over the planes PA system. My dad was snoozing so I nudged him hard to wake him up and we got off of this flight.
Now not saying I dont love children but when they're unruly and only cry....it helped make our decision easier. Besides it gave the parents more room for their children to run amuck! We got paid $300 cash for both of us vs the $300 per person in a vouchers for SW airlines....we're not going to fly them anytime soon so we asked for cash, got our luggage off the plane and waited 1 hour for the next flight.
That made up for our gambling money for the week!

airtran will usually offer free business class tickets for volunteers when the flight is over booked. let me tell ya, their business class is worth taking the later flight. only 2 seats wide so the seats a larger. and the rows are farther apart so there is more leg room.
it can really pay to be flexible on flight times.wife to carl
