It is hard to be frugal when I am addicted to....?
What are some the the brand names you just can't do without and will not try to switch to generic.
Here are a few of mine:
Tide I think this is the best laundry detergent out there!!!!
expensive perfume (elizabeth arden, estee lauder, organza, victoria's secret...you get the picture)
merle norman face powders
oil of olay face lotion
crest toothpaste
crest mouthwash
auzzie hairspray
coffeemate coffee creamer (i only use this about twice a week...but i just can't switch!)
This is just to name a few....LOL Ok you all....what are some of your addictions that you just can't do without the name brand?!?!?!?Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad
and furbabies Morrison

There are very few things I won't go generic on, but as a disclaimer, I buy most of the name brand things only on sale. That being said, here are the exceptions:
Grocery:
Fritos
Coke...gotta have the real thing. I'll drink other store brand sodas, but not cola.
Santitas tortilla chips
V8 Juice
Purina cat food (the only one not in the recall)
Cheerios (I'll buy generic for the birds)
Flour - I prefer Red Band, but I can't find it here, so I use Martha White, which we don't sell, so I have to go elsewhere to buy it.
Mayonnaise (Hellman's or Duke's)
Hormel Chili (mostly use homemade, but if it's not..)
Lea and Perrins Worstershire
Salad Dressings
Non-grocery:
Avia walking shoes (not terribly expensive, can usually pick 'em up on a good sale at JC Penney) I've tried others, and they just don't work for me.
Maxell computer disks
300+ thread sheets with fitted corners
Towels from BB & Beyond
Cleaning:
Dawn dishwashing liquid
Yard and garden:
Don't like cheap fertilizer. Get most of mine from the garden center, except my 10-10-10, which is a great brand I found at Wal-Mart. Cheap but balanced and good to my plants.
Heavy duty hoses. Got tired of having to cut hoses apart and put them back together with joiners. Now I just buy good, heavy hoses and they last a lot longer.
The best garden tools I can afford. I do buy a lot of Big Lots hand clippers, and cheap trowels, but the big tools are always the best I can get, because they don't have to be replaced as often. I'd rather spend $20 on a shovel that will last 20 years, than a $5 one that will break next year.

Ya know, I'm really not tied to any brands when it comes to groceries or household items such that I won't go without them. I'm more concerned about what's IN the products I'm buying and won't buy many brands of many things because of ingredients like high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oils, but that's a different story ...
I do always have chocolate in the house, and it has to be DARK, but I'll buy many different brands.

I'll compromise on just about everything if need be but some things will have me all pouty faced in the doing. Hubby doesn't care at all, lol. He does appreciate good beer & mustard though.
Pouty face = not having:
Hellmans Mayonaise
good cheese, bread, wine...
Oh edited to add (not that anyone really cares)but I need black oil sunflower seeds & suet for my birds & cat can only eat Purina UT formula dry food. Gotta make my feather & furry friends happy & healthy.~*Darlene*~
