Hello from Canada
Hi Everyone,
I just joined up and I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone about all sorts of simple living ideas.
Some things I'm interested in:
- Homesteading in eastern Canada - short growing season and cold winters etc
- Income investment strategies - dividends etc
- Raising children in a simple living household
I'm sure there are lots of people with this type of experience so I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas and experiences.Last edited by Peter; 10-25-2007 at 02:48 PM.

Hi Peter
I am also trying to raise my children in a simple home. I can't help with the homesteading bit though, I am useless in the garden, but there are lots of people here can.
Where in Eastern Canada are you? I'm originally from NS but living in Ontario.

Hi. Welcome. I'm a few hundred miles to the south and west of you - in southeastern New Mexico. If I could grow anything worthwhile, we have a very long growing season and tend to lose things to drought - but I tend to have a bit of a black thumb anyway. I keep trying to change that.
My "child" is now grown, but the biggest advantage that I think we had in keeping life simple-ish is that we never let him get started on the electronic rat-race. We sat in the living room and read or talked or sometimes watched something together. Electronics make a convenient "babysitter", and it is tempting to give in to that, but it seems to me like once kids start playing, they rarely come back out of that. Just one piece of input. Look forward to hearing your "voice" in the village.

monkeywrangler71: I'm in Ontario too. I consider it Eastern Canada even though a lot of people would consider it central. I'm also originally from NS ... I was just back a couple of month ago.
