My husband and I were in Winner last summer for a sprint car race. It is a small town with not much around it. It has your typical midwest small town feel. Winner is known for its pheasant hunting. We were there at the end of June and it was over 100 degrees.
I wish I could tell you more. I hope this helps.

It's been a few years since I've been there. I used to run a cross-country meet each year there in high school, and when I worked for the state of SD right out of college, I did a few workshops there.

My impression as a kid was that there wasn't much going on there! It's rural SD, so it's going to be economically depressed compared to many, many areas of the country. It's very near the Rosebud Indian Reservation, and sadly, the reservations are very economically depressed.

The people of SD are wonderful, for the most part. (I'm biased, though, as I was born and raised there. )
