    Default food processor?

My SO's step mom wants to buy us a food processor for x-mass. We just need to pick it out. I have been voted the most likely to pick something useful. But i have no idea which one. There are soooooo many.

Can anyone give me advice on which is best?

    Thanks

The most important thing is being able to clean it well. Make sure you can break it down and run it throught the dish washer or at least get 90% of it in the sink. From there make it do the jobs you dislike the most to do by hand. If dicing or chopping or kneeding are things you'd rather no do then make sure it does them well.
Compare attachedments. mines a JC Penney brand that I got from one of the homes I cleaned out. I use it when I have alot of items to chop in a hurry. Especially tough hard items like carrots, beets, and turnips. Also juicy things like tomatoes for salsas.
Also mesure the storage cabinet your going to keep it in. Mine has a large base and I had to rearrange cabinets beause it wouldn't fit in the one I store other small applainces in.

I have a Kitchen Aid that I love!! It is no bigger than a sheet of paper and I can leave it out for slicing, dicing, chopping, and kneading pie dough. It is great!! You can take it apart easily and run it through the dishwasher safely. I love the fact that it can slice tomatoes without making them mushy.

Ooh, what a great thread, I'd really like a food processor too but I've never had one and know nothing about them either.

Acid cookie - Mines not hard to clean if I do it right away and watch the blades. But left something like cheese sit too long on the grate blade and it can be hard to clean off. I've gotten spoiled over the years by having a dishwasher. It was a birthday present one year. DH asked what I'd like and I told him. Lost a good cabinet space but it was well worth it. A freiend yelled at me when I told her what I asked for she sid,"Never ask for a gift that comes with a cord and not in a velvert box." Guess thats why she's in debt up to her neck and I'm not.
