Nice to meet everyone! :Pulls up a chair:
Hello everyone!!
I was so happy to find this forum when I went searching for one online.
I have recently read "Your Money or Your Life" and am in the middle of "The Complete Tightwad Gazette". They make a lot of sense!! My family was always spending money (my father had an obsession to keep up with Bob and Todd the neighbors) yet they were also always worrying about money. My Dad was always "robbing Peter to pay Paul" as he put it. My best friends parents had a lovely home, bought clothing at the thrift stores and yet my best friend had more clothing and was better dressed than I was, and my father sneered and called them cheapskates.
My best friends parents are now retired, vacationing in
Hawaii, have a home and an RV fully paid for and a huge retirement fund. They are loving life. My best friend has a lovely home, knows how to cook, and is a great housekeeper and saver. My parents are still working, have nothing saved for retirement, and couldn't imagine being able to afford the time to take off for a vacation.
It started me thinking....I was amazed at the quality of the clothing I found in thrift stores. These are designer name brands, some still with tags, and I was able to get them for fabulous prices. My sister in law sneered at first, till she saw my clothes. She instantly asked where I shopped!
I still have all those bad habit, spend thrift, ways taught to me by my parents though. They are HARD habits to break. I know I need help, and encouragement. I am hoping I can find both here.
Married, 2 children, boy 11 and girl 8, one parrot, hobbies, making parrot toys. I would love to learn to sew and how to decorate a home to make it feel like a home and not just blank white walls with a few pieces of furniture in it.
I look forward to meeting everyone!!

Hello and
to FV!! There are lots of great tips/ideas here on the forum. I joined a couple of months ago and have already learned so much. I come here every day to stay motivated or give me that little push that I sometimes need to stay on track. I have to say that I think I've become a FV junkie. I love reading everybody's posts. The ladies/guys here are very friendly and helpful. There sure is lots to read. Check out the archives as well.
