Default back surgery and a new refrigerator

Well since Monday, DH is officially off of work until Feb 9 and his surgery is a week from today. From my understanding we won't even be losing any income since Worker's Comp money is not taxed and he talked to his worker and she said as soon as his current job faxes over to her all of his wage information, they will pay him 2/3 of his current income where they *were* going to only give him 2/3 income from the job where he got hurt at (3 jobs ago). Besides that, everything is in place. DH has been real busy on the phone the last few days.

After discussing our options we went and bought a new low-end fridge today. The old one is dying, its not keeping cold at all now. We rent a house and we are responsible for our appliances, not the LL. We figured a new one will definitely be more energy efficient, and we will have a warranty, which we will not have with buying used. We live in a rural area and there really isn't much out there in the used appliance market. Believe me I've looked. Plus we bought our new one from Sears and the delivery and installation is free after rebate, and they will take away the old one for ten bucks. It costs more than that here at the dump, plus you have to haul it over there yourself. That's important since DH cannot do any lifting right now, let alone move refrigerators around. Delivery is next Tuesday!

We DID buy a new expensive coffee maker today too LOL. The new fridge was on sale on top of everything else so we spent less than planned and decided on a new fancy red coffee maker since the old one was leaking bad and needed replacing too. It made DH happy which makes me happy.

Also wishing your DH a speedy recovery. Sounds like you got a good deal on your new appliances and the delivery, installation and haul-away services will be great.

Hope your dh's surgery is a complete success, that you make out fine on workman's comp and you love your new appliances.
