Default RANT...this kitten is driving me CRAZY!

I'm going to have to find a home for him. He's just tearing everything up. I just caught him chewing on the silk flower tiebacks I have on my curtains in here. I've tried everything, bought him toys and stuff, but he's just destructive. He really needs another kitten to play with, and I just don't want another kitten!

I have an ad on Freecycle, and if I can't find him a home this week, I'm going to have to take him to the Humane Society (no kill shelter). He's already knocked over my ironing board and broken my iron so it never shuts off now. I can't afford to be buying new appliances!

I'm too old for small animals or children in my house. I have my life set up, and I'm set in my ways, and any major disruption is just not feasible. I just took him so that he wouldn't be turned loose in the woods.

He keeps me up all night either crying at my door, or playing on my bed. Last night, I had the heating pad on the bed, and he was trying to chew on the cord. He wants to sleep on the top of my pillow, which is totally uncomfortable for me. Last night, he kept trying to snuggle up to me, but he changed positions about 20 times, and I finally put him out.

I need sleep! I need my house to be intact! I need a home for this kitten!

What state do you live in? Maybe someone here will want to take him off your hands. Kittens can be a handful. My two aren't really kittens anymore but they have just discovered the joys of attacking the underside of the sofa and are tearing it up. I have gad so many kittens in my life that it really doesn't phase me but I can see how it would be annoying if you just aren't in the mood to deal with it. Good luck finding kitty a home.

I am sorry he's bothering you. I am trying not to laugh though, your kitty sounds just like mine. Mine is a year old now, and there were many moments in the beginning that I wanted to give him away!!! He still acts up many mornings (usually an hour or two before my alarm goes off for work). He chews on the cords behind the bed and annoys me most of the night. I have gotten used to broken sleep (thanks to my little kitty friend). I wish you luck finding yours another home .

On petfinder.com, there is a section where you can list your pet for adoption, and people from your state can see your ad. Also, Craigslist is a free classified service. You may want to ask a small adoption fee, just to be sure that the adopters are sincere (it's common to do this nowadays).

Your lifestyle sounds like mine. I'm very set in my ways at this point. If you'd like a cat, you may want to consider a senior (you can also browse them on petfinder). Senior pets are wonderful: they are housebroken, calm and undestructive, and they seem to understand that they had no home... and now you are giving them one.... and you can see the gratefulness in their eyes.

    Good luck!

I have an older cat. I truly just took this one because he was in danger of being abandoned in the woods. I couldn't stand that. My older cat doesn't like him at all, and she doesn't even like to be around me when he's around. I miss cuddling with her at night, and in the morning when I'm drinking my coffee.

If you do go to the humane society - see if you can trade a younging for a more seasoned and established cat. They're not gaining another animal to have to find a home for b/c everyone wants a kitten never an older cat. It seems that a lot of older cats get overlooked often and they may be estatic to do the exchange with you. Call ahead to see if its doable? You may not have to wait the whole week and be at your wit's end.

    Good luck!

I have three kittens and one thing I discovered is wear them out! I have a container of dried catnip that I put their stuffed toys in and shake it up so some sticks to the toys. Give them that and they beat those toys up! It is hilarious! Then after about an hour they are exhausted and sleep for hours. You might give it a try as a last resort.

That sure sounds like normal kitten stuff to me! At least she's not biting you, that's what our's did and he grew out of it. An older cat would probably be a better choice.
