Has the world gone mad? Singing Pizza Elmo
I just saw a commercial for this on TV. At first, I thought it was a joke. No joke, it's one of the "HOT TOYS" of 2007. I present SINGING PIZZA Elmo:

Unless I am missing something, I don't see anything wrong with that toy.
I won't be buying one this holiday season. To me, it's useless and wouldn't be much fun past the first song he sung. However, there are children out there who idolize Elmo. They want to be him when they grow up and they will get hours of enjoyment from the toy. To each their own I guess.

The thing that struck me as odd is "the singing pizza". It moves its eyes and mouth. Elmo wants you to EAT his little singing buddy! He is trying to serve you up a slice of his happy, singing, little friend. Just seemed like a weird toy. I like Elmo, I just don't think he needs a new gimmick every Christmas.

I've actually thought about getting Wesley this for Christmas. He loves Elmo and he loves singing.

I would never ever buy it but my son LOVES it! Everytime we see it at the store I just have to push the button to see a big smile on DS's face.
"Yummy, yummy..."

Elmo was my DD's favorite and one reason why is because I bought her a little stuffed Elmo that she carried around with her everywhere! It was like Linus's blanket to her and if she didn't have it tightly grasped in her sweaty little hand when she was put to sleep at night, she would cry endlessly until we found it.
She would not have been so crazy over a mechanical Elmo that sang and danced and was not easily taken everywhere.
DD is 16 now and we still have that Elmo and none of the other elaborate toys she got from then on.

~I bought a potty Elmo when I started training ds. He has a pretty severe speech delay so even though he was physically ready to train, I was having a hard time getting him to understand what I wanted him to do. Potty Elmo helped a GREAT deal! It didn't help him train faster, but it did help him communicate about his potty needs. Sometimes the silliest things can be a real bright spot for special needs kids and their parents.~
