My daughter has 3 large packages of these (the kits) from her birthday. Luckily she hasn't opened them yet. Even though she doesn't tend to put things im her mouth (she's 5) I'm taking no chances. Do i just trash them? I'm assuming I can't get my families money back anywhere.

since they only do that after they get wet, i would be afraid after they squirted them theyd accidentally put their fingers in their mouth at some point. who knows how long it would stay affective on your hands.

My daughter wanted these too. They have a similar toy at her daycare & I called them today to make sure they weren't aquadots. They have something called 'fuse beads'. I don't know who makes them, but she said it had 'made in usa' on the box (we were both shocked!).
Oriental trading company sells something called fuse beads, I am not sure if they are the same as what they have at my daughters daycare or not but here is a link -

They are similar. My daughter has these two. Instead of round beeds they have alittle hole in them. You use this plastic mold with little spikes on it to place the beads... when you are done you cover with parchment paper and iron. I'm going to get more of these.

Very weird.... how did a 'date rape' drug get into these thing? The world's gone mad

As far as returning them, I'd just ask the family where they were purchased and go back there without a receipt. Or, I'll bet Toys R Us will take them back, and without a receipt will just give you a store credit. They'll get the money back from the manufacturer.

the drug didn't get into the product. the beads, when swallowed metabolize into ghb. when making this product someone HAD to have known what they were making.

On our local news last night they had a pretty informative segment on this. They said that at the factory, last minute, they changed the formula that is on the outside that makes them bond and they did not test it because they did not have time. Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen! And it is correct that the GHB was not added to the toys it is a chemical reaction in the body that cause the GHB to form. My kids have been asking for these and twice I almost bought them and then thought "not today, I will get them another time" so glad I did because my kids do not necessarily put thiings in their mouth but they do occasionally put pretend food and stuff like that in their mouths so it is not a stretch to see how they could put these small beads in their mouths. I hope everyone is able to get their money back and that all of your children are ok. I know our news said 3 children went into a coma but that they are ok now.
