DH had his back surgery on Friday
The surgery went well and he was released from the hospital yesterday. It's been rough for him but he's steadily improving and has been in good spirits in spite of it. He's been having episodic fevers and miserable anasthesia-related hiccups. I felt so bad for him, he got a fever and hiccup attack at 3am this morning and after he got the fever down and went back to sleep he started hiccuping in his sleep. But I know he's feeling better now, he was up around 7am walking around the house a bit without the walker and right now he's sleeping soundly (no hiccups).
And thank God for the EF. There's been a paperwork hangup so he has not started receiving checks yet from Worker's Comp. The peace of mind from having money in the bank is truly priceless. And I'm getting paid family sick leave to stay home all this next week and take care of him

Does the doctor say what his fevers are being caused by? I kniw that the hiccups are pretty common. I hope your DH has a speedy recovery and I'm glad the surgery went well.

The fevers are anasthesia related as well, something to do with the lungs but I'm not sure exactly how its connected with fever, they didn't really explain it. They gave him a plastic breather thing, looks just like what someone with asthma uses to gauge their lung capacity but he inhales with it instead. He has to use it every couple of hours and when he gets a fever. It makes the fever go away, maybe Baxjul can answer why it works. Thanks for the well wishes, they are appreciated

Sometimes anesthesia will give you a fever. Not sure exactly why. The breathing thing, will help so that he doesn't get pneumonia, which happens alot after sugery also!
Glad that he is feeling okay! And good luck to you this week taking care of him.
