    Question MP3 player newbie

I'm thinking about getting an MP3 player. I've been doing a bit of research and I think a 1GB-2GB flash drive model will be fine. I'd like to spend less than $50. Can I transfer music on CDs that I have to the MP3? Do I need anything special on my computer? I have a 5yo Dell computer, Windows XP, with dial up internet and I do not know anything about music files. Is there a device that I can play it in my car with?

I'm thinking with xmas coming up that there might be some sales on them.

I was wondering the same things. I was told that if you're on dial up that you might have problems downloading because of the buffering making the the music skip but I don't know for sure

b4 it was shut down i used to dl music and videos from winmx on dial up with no problem. with windows media player you can rip ur cds in wma format or mp3 format. if ur getting a usb one then all u have to do is access the folder the music is in and copy it to ur player. when i get the money im going to upgrade to the 160 gig ipod b/c with the way im getting music from the library and torrent sites i know i can fill it up.

We use eMusic to download. It's a subscription based system kind of like Napster. They don't have a fantastic selection but it's not too bad.

As for MP3 Players, Zune has a 1G for $40 at Target this week. Or you can check out the Apple store online for refurbished iPods for cheap. Most MP3 players come with software that enable you to "rip" CDs (the process of uploading from a CD to your computer) and put the contents on your MP3 player. So you shouldn't have to do any kind of reconfiguring with that.
