    Default Completely Random Rant -

The phone rings - I answer it - it's a woman asking for my husband by first name, but she only had a question for him and she's sure I would know the answer.

    ohhhh kkkkk -

    "about what" I ask.

"about getting a lower rate on his car insurance" she says.

" did he call you?" ((knowing he didn't, he's still deployed, I just wanted to see if she lied to me ))

" no, I was asked to call him" she says.

"who told you to call?" I asked.

"my boss" she says. - and at this point the witch is giving me a TONE as if SHE has a right to be annoyed!!

"well, who is your boss" I ask.

" Randy So in so" she says.

" and where are you calling from?" I ask.

    "AllState" she answers.

"ahhh, and that's why we use State Farm" I reply.

    Click.

It's not that telemarketing calls bother me that much, I realize that it's a job - not one I would care to have, but a job none the less and I usually tell people "no thank you, but thanks for calling" -

what irritates me about THIS call was her tone of voice and the way she 'implied' that she knew or spoke with my husband - as if it were a 'personal' call -

    Agggghhhhhhh -

that's it - I just wanted to share - now I have yet another reason I'll never change insurance companies.

I hate those phone calls too. Been so quiet since we switched to just cell phones, we're loving it.
We like State Farm too, our agents are great and we actually got a couple dividend checks this year.

~I sooo agree. I think it's really rude to call someone by their first name if you aren't actually aquainted. Guess I'm pretty old fashioned.~

Ocassionally we will get bill collector calls for DH's parents since he is a junior with the same name as his dad. One time I told the lady they had the wrong number. She insisted I was lying and DH wasn't really a junior, I was just making that up to get out of paying. lol

my mom has a problem with the "state police" calling and they are so rude..she paid once when they called, then they called again saying they didnt get payment, when she looked it up on her back account she had paid someone claiming to be the state police and the other so called state police was hateful because they didnt get the donation..then they called when my dad was out with surgery and when my mom started explaining that they didnt have anything extra because my dad had surgery they hung up on her.

another weird thing that happened: me and my husband have been married over 3 years and dated 3 years or so before that..but his parents have never met my parents..long story..anyways his parent were haivng some credit problems or something and the collection people started calling MY parents asking for my husband's parents to pay their bills and call these people back! i hit the roof when i heard that...i grilled that company so bad..they explained that there is some program they purchased that connects families to families so they can be sure to contact the person in debt. oh man were we hot! after i reamed them a new hiney for distrubing my folks they stopped calling.

I've had the same thing happen with the police calling for donations. Only they didn't ask for Dh...they talked to me. They explained they wanted donations for a statue for the police dept.

I'm like - we don't have any extra money.

    He's said, "not even $25?".

    EXCUSE ME?! That ticked me...

I'm like, "no...we have only $100/month for groceries (this was a VERY lean time). $25 would mean a week with NO FOOD for us so that you guys can have a statue. Do you want us to go hungry for a week so someone can look at a statue?"

He said...well, when will you have more money?

    WHAT?!!!!!!!!

I told him it would be YEARS, said goodbye, and hung up.

    RUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!

It was actually a sergeant or something (an officer)... I'm thinking...and these are the people who are supposed to be out protecting us?
(We have a small force and VERY high crime...uh...anyone else see something wrong with this picture? )

Since we've switched to cell phones we've not had any of those annoying calls...I love it!!

I can't stand telemarketer calls either. I called the opt out # and hardly get them anymore, but you can't opt out of non-profit calls, so I get random calls for donations, they don't want to take no for an answer these days. Had one last week that was so rude, when he finally got it that I wasn't going to donate, he hung up on me.

By the way, I have State Farm too and have been very happy with them.... love the dividend checks too Darlene.

We get them once in awhile too where they act like they know Mr. Rex (hmm.. my husband is Mr. Seaman, lol) I tell them to take us off their list but some can really be pushy, and I just can't help but to argue with them (how old am I again). By the way, most of the police stuff is fake, the real PD's do not usually solicit over the phone. We had someone call a couple of years ago looking for my BIL saying he owed a debt to such and such college (which he never attended in a state that he never lived in) and they got so mad that I would not give them his phone number. They called again like a year later different girl same speech, I said how in the world did you get our phone number for him (never lived with us and lived in a different state the entire time husband and I have lived together) they said some family share thing too, the nerve of these people astounds me.

Since we got put on the no call list, it's not so bad, but the occasional non-profit still calls for donations.

I guess I'm pretty much a wimp, because as soon as I realize they want a donation, I say "Not interested" and hang up really fast!

Hahaha - atleast here they say they're calling on behalf of the police assoc asking if we'd like to buy tix to the circus; the monies go as donations blah blah blah. I point blank cut the elderly man off, asked for his badge/id # and which police station he was at - he wouldn't tell me and questioned me as to why. I told him that if I could see him in his uniform behind the counter of the said location that I'd donate $100 w/o the circus tix. He wouldn't tell me peep. I told him to stop calling me and to take me off their list. Since then *touches wood* nothing But man did I ever catch him off guard.

I was pissy a few yrs back but nowdays, I just dont answer the phone unless I know the #.

I think anyone who calls asking for donations for fire or police are fakes! I had one such caller curse at me using the F-word and hang up on me when I told them I had no money.

I totally agree, I would have asked the same questions and had the last response you had before I hung up on her.... no offense but this made me laugh.

Most of those people that call for money for police or state troopers or whatever, they aren't even police! They are just telemarketers.

The attorney general is currently investigating the Texas State Troopers Association here. They raised over 3.7 million dollars last year, but less than 100,000 of it was actually given to state troopers. It was all profit for the telemarketers!

Ohhhh - the best one lately ( a few months ago) was a call selling magazine subs to deployed military - ((I personally think this one was 110% BS.))

I listened, I waited, I asked her "do you realize that I am the spouse to a deployed military member?"

    - she apologized and hung up before I could say anything else to her!

Again, I know that it has to be a difficult job - and I don't mind that you try - but when I say "no thank you", I MEAN NO - geez!
