I think most Canadians say pop. My American relatives always say soda.

Soda is soda, baking soda is baking soda. Pop is a dad or granddad,or the sound made when the cork Pops out of a bottle, lol.

It was pop for 55 years, when my daughters family moved back from Mass. all we heard was soda so it's mostly soda, but sometimes pop still pops out.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Pop where I grew up, moved down south and they called it soda. Many also called it coke regardless of what it was.

Here in the south we call it Coke. As in asking a visitor, "Do you want a Coke?" And if they say yes, then you say, "Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Mountain Dew...etc.?"

Pop - I'm from Washington state, I think that "pop" is a canadian influence. I MAY call it generically "coke", but NEVER soda....that just sound too odd to my ears!
