    Default FREECYCLE MEMBER RANT!!!

Man, I am not having a very good day am I?
Aside from the grocery store adventure, I have another story to tell...
I am sick & tired of people& society asking stupid, intrusive questions....it seems like everyone expects you to just tell them everything about yourself and explain why you do things.
Anyway...I offered 50 jars of baby food on freecycle. Zachary can eat what we do now and this is what I had left over in my stockpile.
well...this man emailed me & said "I'm interested, but I have to ask just one question...why do you have 50 jars of babyfood?" EXCUSE ME???The reason that I should have 50 jars of baby food in my possesion was NOT any of his business. So, already on a short fuse today, I emailed him back & said "I have just one question..."why did you ask me such a silly, intrusive question? - Why do you have underwear??"...so...the moron emailed back & said "I asked b/c I think that it is strange for someone to have 50 jars of baby food" GGRR...so I emailed him again & said "Okay...if you think that it is so strange for me to have 50 jars of baby food, then why do you want them? Would you not think that someone else might think that you are strange for having 50 jars of baby food? You did not make any sense. I am forwarding this to the moderator."
Needless to say, he wasn't the lucky recipient of the baby food. I'll probably be reported as a "hoarder" lol

Yeah, people can sure do annoying things! I e-mailed that "donate rice" thing to my mom and my cousin...they BOTH e-mailed me back asking if I'd checked it...when I had put a link to snopes AND a description into the original e-mail!!!

Questions that waste time or are unnecessary (ie. it's under your nose or none of your business!) BUG ME.

Sorry you're having a stinker of a day!!! Sending you hugs!!!

Hey Kenz how's school going for you??
The moderator sided w/me & sent the other party a nice letter.lol. But in the meantime, the other party sent me another obnoxious letter trying to spin the thing like it was my fault that he asked such a stupid question. oh well...I hope its over.

There were a group of us here, who got so sick of freecycle (and the itiots on it...most were resellers, anyways) that we started our own group with some of the "better" members who were on freecycle and tired of it!

It has worked out great for everyone too.

I think some people just don't realize that people do "stockpile" foods...so to some, having 50 jars of baby food on hand is weird. I had less than that when my youngest starting refusing to eat it. I had maybe 30 jars, and I offered them to a friend. Granted, she knows me...but, she just looked at me and said with a smile...you must have found one heck of a sale to have 30 jars leftover!

It sounds like he needs to learn gratitude instead of attitude. What did he think anyway, that you had hijacked the baby food truck, sheesh, what a nimwit. I think it was very nice of you to offer the baby food on freecycle. I hope that the family that received it was very grateful.

Well it makes sense that you would have that much. I'm sure I did at some point. When they're eating 4 jars (or more) a day, 50 is only 12 and a half days worth. I liked to have at least 2 weeks worth when dd was eating them. Plus when they were on sale for 40 cents or I had a coupon I would stockpile them.

Not siding with this guy, but being a man, he probably doesn't have a clue on how much baby food a child can eat in a week or month, and even if he did, maybe he doesn't realize just how much baby food costs now. I litterly went into shock when I bought baby food for my grandsons, since it had been 23 years since I bought it for my daughter. I remember paying .20 a jar for it back then and had it stockpiled in every extra space I could find in the house, LOL, especially if I had coupons.

Still though, I think his questions would have bugged me as well. Take it or leave it mister. Annn't......you loose!

I agree with the other poster.... obviously he has no concept of a well-stocked pantry. Would he think it were strange if he had 50 cans of veggies, soups or tuna in his pantry? Or 3 boxes of breakfast cereal (that equals about 50 servings)? How about a bag of dry rice?

Maybe you should send this guy a link to the Village so we can show him what stockpiling really is, LOL. Poor guy would probably and then

About 2 years ago, there was a huge shake-up with the freecycle group here too...alot of resellers & people who just loved to cause trouble & nothing was done about it...so some of the member left & a site called "Recyle" was born. A friend of mine owns it and wouldn't you know she made me moderator? so I am going to be checking our data base & see if this bozo is a member with our group & if he is, I'll throw his butt off-Sorry, I don't put up with bs. If he is pulling this w/FC, then I'm not going to give him an opportunity to pull it on Recycle.
