    Default Change in my plans...

And it isn't a horrific change.

My DH flew to Seattle for a week long seminar. I scrounged the money to also fly out for 2 days and rearranged my schedule to be off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. He drops me off at the airport (as we have separate flights from different airports because I wasn't going to afford the doubled cost of flying non-stop with him - I have other things to put my monies into at the moment) and he heads down to DC for his flight.

My itinerary gets changed last minute because my connecting flight in Detroit is cancelled, so i get rerouted thru Minneapolis. Not a problem but adds 2 hours onto my travel.

My plane is late arriving. Boarding is then late. We get pushed into the taxi lane and when they start the engines, one of the generators does NOT kick in. We return to the gate and wait the mechanic. And we wait. And we wait. Well if we were to take off now, I would still miss my connecting flight to Minn. This means I would be rerouted again or put up in a hotel and not get to Seattle till Monday afternoon. Keep in mind, I'm only ther for 2 full days and a day of travel each way. I text my DH and we chat about the plans and he leaves it up to me.

The Captain then makes the announcement, looking for the silver lining in all of this, that Detroit's Airport is Closed due to the icestorm!!!

So if I stay on the plane, I won't go to Detroit, I won't get to Seattle with enough time to enjoy my DH's company or hang out with our friend.

    Decision made.

I grab my carry on (thank goodness it was only 3 days of clothes and nothing had to be checked) and I walk off the plane.

The ticket rep was able to eventually refund my monies and I called my Mom to pick me up. So I gathered our 3 dogs from her home and head to my home for a glorious week with NO spouse, three days off, and the dishes and most of the laundry already done!

Today, I went to Aldi's to get baking supplies for homemade goodies for the hand bell choir, assorted clients and assorted friends. This house is going to smell so good and I'll be able to freeze most of my baked goods without DH pilfering the treats.

    Oh my goodness!
You have such a great attitude!
That would have totally bummed me out and made me grumpy.
Of course I would have had 3 kids with me LOL.

The worst air expereinces we had were around the world to adopt our baby from China. There are parts of the flying that I try not to think about LOL.
(on the US end, The China air travel made me feel like a queen)

Enjoy your time off and again good job with such a great attitude!

I think I would have made the same decision you did. I mean afterall, your intentions were to spend time with your hubby, and it was clear that wasn't gonna happen. You enjoy your time alone baking and having that great smelling house all to yourself, LOL.

This would be me if I were you and eating those cookies, LOL.

Actually, our China adoption air experience was fine (in the air - but the airports were a headache), it was Russia that was scary.......our in country plane literally had ceiling tiles shaking while we were flying.........

    I agree - what a great attitude!!
