Well, it's not the best thing right now, but i'm still excited!
Our new fridge and stove will arrive on Friday!
Our stove is not consistently cooking. We looked at replacing the teh elements and the thermostat but it is old, and just not worth it anymore. We wouldn't be able to sell if for the price of the new parts. The fridge isn't keeping things anymore. Milk is not cold, we've already replaced the thermostat once. Both are over 10 yo.
I thought about going used, but dh told me no. To go and pick the ones I wanted. Don't settle, he knows i"ve been eyeing up a convection double oven. With cooking for 9-10 people a day, plus baking 10 loaves of bread a week, and more, he said it's worth it. The time i'll save, is worth it. The cost of running it will be a little more, BUT, the time saved for baking will be a savings, on 2 hours instead of 4 or 5 will save, even though the fan is running. The fan in minimal. I just got a basic fridge. looked at the side by side, looked at the bottom freezer. Non appealed to me.

I do cook alot..lol. I have 4 kids, and do childcare. Plus friends of the kids. Over the holidays I have an extra 6 people staying here, and the oven has been terrible recently, and I don't want to have a ruined meal on a big meal night. Not good.
Oh, we have 0% interest on these for 24 mo. So we'll pay it off with no interest paid! I don't want to do this yet, but it was an eventuallity. So we have it coming!
I'm very excited!

It's better to go ahead and just get what you want and need. You will enjoy cooking and baking so much more. I did just that when I bought the new appliances for the new house and now I'm so glad I did. I was in the market for a double wall oven too, but found a brand new Kenmore single wall oven at Sears for $239.00 and couldn't pass it up. We bought it 6 months before we even started building the new house and we stored it until time to install it. It was stainless/black like I wanted too and had the warranty and all, just no box, but that was fine. We wrapped it up. I bought a stainless/black fridge w/freezer on top to match, microwave/hood, and a stainless/black gas range. I still have my two ovens, but unless I'm cooking for a crowd, I just use my wall oven. Saves on the ole' back, LOL.
I've had side by side fridges and I just don't like them. We already have two large chest freezers and a used top freezer fridge in the shed outside, so I bought a large top freezer for the kitchen.
I'm so glad you listened to dh and got what you wanted and need.
Contratulations! You are really gonna enjoy cooking your Christmas dinner this year, LOL.

We are looking into a new stove and fridge soon. Just dread the cost.. but we are redoing our kitchen. My husband is a carpenter and is doing one cabinet at a time.. then as they are being put in he will place the new stove and fridge where they belong. Killing two birds with one stone..
you enjoy yours....great for the holiday

Name the newest frugal thing you've started, and the latest frugal thing you gave up.
