    Default Sometimes Health Insurance works

In November we had to take ds to the ER in the middle of the night. He is number 4, and the first we have ever had to take to the ER. I was stressing a little bit about how much we were going to have to end up paying for it and if our HSA was going to cover it. The original bill was $2800, $250 of it for the doctor whose 'company' doesn't have a contract with our insurance.

After all the deductions, allowables and whatnots are done we only owe the hospital $258 and have done the paperwork to be sent the money from the HSA. And, today I received a check from insurance for $219 for the doctor. Well, if we pay the bill by tomorrow we only have to pay them $206 (deduction for fast payment). So I will deposit that check first thing in the am and then call and pay with the debit card - netting us $13. Additionally, they are covering the follow-up appt with the pediatrician for all but $9, which means I will get $11 back on the copay I had to pay at the time.

I get frustrated with insurance sometimes, but other times it does seem to work out. I consider this my little Christmas present.

We have Flexable Spending through hubby's insurance at work, and boy does it sure help. Yesterday in the mail, I received a doctor bill for $106.00 and a check from our Flexible Spending account for $128.00 which covers the bill and the copay we paid. I love it!

Yep, sometimes health insurance does work, and it's a blessing. Glad it's working for you too.
