    Default My appliances came!!

    But not without grief.

Friday, they were to be delivered between 12 and 5pm

Well by 5, no phone call, no trucks, I call, and I get:

"Oh they didn't call you?" Uh NO

"Oh, well the fridge isn't in, so they aren't delivering either appliance".

A phone call would have been nice. So I call the corporate office customer service. She apologizes, offers to refund the delivery fee, will send out a letter of apology and a gift card. The fridge and stove will be delivered on Friday. I told her I'm expecting company, i need ot have it sooner. Sorry that's all they can do.

I tell dh, he says like ......blank. So we head over to the store. We speak to a manager, and she says she'll get the stove delivered Saturday, without the stove so I can at least get some baking done, and to call the next day and speak with the head manager. Ok... fine.

at 11:30 am Saturday the appliances are delivered. The men don't take off their boots, don't slip on covers or lay down drop cloths. They aren't rude, just said it's policy. I have oatmeal colored carpets!! Fine. They take out the old appliances, set in the new. Fine. I open the lower oven and an element is bent!! that can't be replaced until next friday. But it does work.

So, dh talks to the store manager, we get a $215 credit on our purchase. If the part can't be replaced by friday, they'll order us a new stove, period.

Grrrrr. I do need to call them about the carpets, i think they should be paying me so I can get them cleaned. Sure, no mud, but they are workboots, I have a dayhome, with children crawling all over the carpets. It was rude. At the very least, they should have given me a moment to toss down a cloth or something!

I do love the stove though!! Ceramic top, double oven, on convection, one normal. Wonderful!

WooHoo!! I'm so excited for you. Sorry you had the delivery problems and the bent element, just make sure you stay on them about it. I would address the issue of the workboots on carpet too. That was rude, and by gosh, they aren't giving away the appliances, you are a paying customer.....It would have only taken a minute for you to throw something down for them to walk on...Please!

Also, did they bolt the stove to the floor? If not, make sure they do that when they come back. When the oven door is open and any weight is put on it, the stove will tip over easily and that's not good, especially with kids in the house, oven on or not. Sears now has a lawsuit against them for this. We got a notice in the mail asking if they bolted our stove down when they delivered it, and they did.

Ahhh, I can smell the goodies now, LOL!

    Have fun and Happy cooking/baking!

they didn't set it up, they just deposited in the general space. We don't know if there is even a stud where it needs to be. Is the door really that heavy?? Dh didn't think it made sense. I'll test it out with pressure. When I bake, i baracade the kitchen, so it's only the big people that acan come and go. I did cookies yesterday between making a truffle for dd8 Christmas party and making 15 ornaments for her team mates..lol They turned out lovely.

I'm not sure how much pressure or weight it would take to make it to tip cause I've never thought about it before myself. Wasn't even aware that there could be a problem with that until I got the letter from the law firm about it asking if my range/oven was bolted down when it was installed by Sears. Hubby said they are secured down on the front on both sides and all new ranges have the thingy's on there to do it, but Sears did secure mine when they installed it, so I never paid attention before. I guess someone was hurt somehow and sued Sears, so there is now a Class Action Lawsuit concerning this issue. I'm thinking a child opened the oven door and climbed on it to reach something and it tipped over on them causing injury, I don't know.

I tested it and it couldn't budge for me putting lots of weight on it.

If a child climbed up on the oven... I don't know, but I think the parents bear some responsibility there. A child needs to be taught not to climb... what if the oven was hot? Would that be Sears fault too?

I'll get dh to test it out as well, though. thanks for hte heads up!

I'm watching the clock, gonna put ina roast soon..lol Gotta try it out good!!

I agree with you, but that's the way of the world it seems, lawsuits for any and everything now-a-days.

Hubby was here when Sears brought our appliances and installed them and he said he had never heard of it himself until the delivery/installation guy told him about it. My kids had more to worry about than a stove falling on them when they were younger if they thought about climbing on it, LOL. Whack, Whack!

Ummm, that roast is gonna be amazing! If you can, post a pic of the new stove.....and don't forget the roast, LOL.

You will love the convection oven. I so love mine for baking. You can bake a pan of cookies on each rack at the same time. No rotating pans.
Bakes a batch of cookies in no time. Makes nice airy cakes also.
You will need to rotate the cakes about 10 minutes after they have been in the oven or you will have an uneven cake. The fan pushes the batter and it rises to one side if you do not rotate.
Hope you enjoy your new store.
Sorry for all the trouble it is taking to get it though!

I would assume that it is a safety issue to not have the drop cloth laid down. The wheels of their cart could get caught or they could trip and get hurt.

Either way, having dirty carpets is no fun. Hope you enjoy the stove!

I love it! I had looked at one like that before I found the one wall oven on sale. Believe me, having two ovens is a very good thing! Your gonna love the smooth top too. I would have bought another smooth top for the new house, but we tend to loose power out here alot where we live now, so I went for a gas range.

Any news on when your fridge will be delivered?
