Angry My 9 year old sons just got c/c offers in the mail?!?!?!?!?

This makes me mad on so many levels:
    1. I don;t like that they are trying to offer young ppl credit so early (even if it was a "mistake")
    2. If someone got ahold of those offers, they could really screw up my kids credit before they even hit puberty!
    3. What a waste of a tree!
It's so frustrating, and it seems that there's nothing you can do to stop the offers from coming. We are on the "no call list", so they don't bother us that way. At least with the mail offers, I can rip them up and throw them away before they even make it in the house!
    Thanks for listening!!

A little early for them to be worrying about interest fees, isn't it? Aren't girls still gross at this point?

My son got a Discover card offer when he was five. Then our dog got a Master Card offer about four months later.

I kept them both because I found it so amuzing.

BTW - we "opted out" from getting future offers. Look on the bottom or backof any of the unsolicited offers and there will either be a number or website to opt out from getting any more. Basically it is a "Do not call" list for mail.

    Traci,

I would call the credit card company and complain. Demand that they take your sons off their mailing lists.

For safety purposes, I would also put your sons name on the opt out list....

My now 15 yr old DD got a CC offer from Capitol One when she was 10. I called them up and had her taken off their list too. I now add her name to our No Call list.

Oh good grief!!! Why are CC companies so screwed up???

I'd make sure to call and complain...and then set his name up so he doesn't receive any more...

That is so messed up! I guess I should feel great that my 11 year old has yet to reecieve any offers.

just an aside thought....(Neely's post made me think of it)....it's not just cc's....
When I was young my parents would take me in to Rockville Center to see the dentist. His wife worked the desk. She would get very frustrated with the medicare system and people who would use it to pay while dressed in desighner clothes, driving fancy cars, and flashing jewles. Basically anyone could scam a card. So she sighned up her three great danes and they recieved cards and full benefits. She one the towns "fickle finger" award and brought a lot of attention to the issue when she started waving them at all the newspapers.
