just gotta tell you guys
when my oldest daughter was born, i had a lot of difficulties with labor. i had to have demoral, so when my daughter was born, she was addicted to it. so even though i was allowed to go home, they had to wean her off of it slowly.
well, today is her 18th birthday. i got to bring her home from the hospital on christmas eve. the song that was playing on the radio, was I'll be home for christmas. i cried like a baby. i don't like that song now. because of how it made me cry.
sunday, we were in save a lot, and that song came on. i cry everytime i hear it. so there i was in the middle of save a lot, crying my eyes out. my daughter was with me and asked what was wrong. i told her and she just grabbed me and started hugging me. people were looking at us like we had grown three heads or something. well, my dd told me that she loved me. a lady passing by, heard her, and said, well, i have never heard a teenager tell their parents that they love them. well, dd turned to her and said, i tell my mom that i love her everyday!
we walked off.
but i just had to tell you folks how that made my heart soar!

Oh Nancy! Thank you for that great story!
I had a similar experience exactly one year after you
. Friday is my daughter's birthday. When she was born (early) I hemorrhaged and we both almost died... went to the ER in an ambulance... long story. I brought the baby home on Christmas morning. My 2 year old asked if Santa Claus had brought her.
A horrible experience turned into a wonderful Christmas memory!
Congratulations on having such a terrific kid!!!

I'm an emotional mess today anyway, and this post brought more tears and a peace to my heart at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing this with me today. You may never know how much this has meant to me, especially today when I feel like I just can't take another ounce of grief. This has been a bad year. Sorry.
(((Hugs))) to you and your precious daughter.

Aw, that's very sweet. We don't really verbally tell each other that we love each other, but it's just how our family/culture is.
