haven't posted much but I'm back....
....for now anyway. Wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays Happy New Year. Things have been realy messed up since my dh got hurt in October. He is back to work but his leg still swells where the log fell on him. My13 year old sd has decided to start lieing(sp) again and now has detention Friday. I found out today she isn't doing her homework. Says she has none. It's all a big joke to her. Our car decided to break $500 to fix that and all the insurace and tags are due 12/31. I've reached the end of my rope. Won't be a very merry Christmas here.......
Thanks for listening to my probems. You've all been a great help. At least I feel like I have friends somewhere.

Hang in there. We're here for you.
I had a time when my DS said he had no homework and he did.
She'll serve detention and one day will grow up and take it all serious.
( She'll survive and hopefully you will to )
Thank God your DH wasn't hurt more than he was. He's alive and will be with you for Christmas. ( Hope the leg heals completely soon )
Now the car ( Could have been non fixable and you would have had to get a new one for even more money ) Tags and insurance are just a PITA
and there to drive us all insane..
Hope you Have A Merry Christmas and A Healthier and Less Expensive New YearTo be One With The Universe In Spirit, Mind and Body

Thanks guys. I feel somewhat better. And you are right those are a big PITA. My dh was very lucky. That 1000 pound log could have landed a few inches higher

I think Thomas Jefferson is the one who said it best.....
"When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on."
At times like this, when the world seems to crash down all around you, take a step back and try to count your blessings.
Your DH was very lucky, it could have been so much worse.
I know the whole car thing is a pain, but be thankful that you do have a car to get you where you need to go.
Hang on and learn to take one day at a time...somehow it all will work itself out. I know, I've been there."We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

I am very glad that you are back! I missed you.
As for that naughty sd---threaten to shave her head ala Britney Spears and then send pictures to her friends. No wigs for her. That'll straighten her up......

Forgot to add my usual advice....
As my good pal Dorrie always says "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, what do we do, we just keep swimming." Sounds as if you are trying to swim upstream against current.
Best of luck to you.McD

Okay -
First - Thank goodness your husband's leg is getting better - he'll just have to put it up as soon as he comes home from work everyday.
The car - It's always the car.
SD - Hmmmm - sounds like she needs to be stripped of all privileges (phone, tv etc.) and start earning them back.
2008 will be a great year.
Blessings.

you guys are all great. I worked for 13 years with people I thought were my friends. Since I haven't worked for 2 years not one has tried to keep in touch even though I tried. I know that there are people alot worse off than us but you know how it goes when things snowball. As for takng away sd's privilages.. been there done that. No tv,games, friends you name it .She had nothing left to take away. It didn't phase her. (I did threaten to take her to school dressed in a ratty bathrobe, curlers and her dads rubber fishing boots.)Murphy needs to change his ways lol.
