Did you all see the Valentines decorations
I was at the shopping center the other night and in the JoAnne fabric store, front window are Valentine decorations! It is not even Christmas yet! I found that I was drawn to a valentine wreath of red roses. Very full....very flush.....very expensive. Needless to say, I walked on by but honestly....It seems to make it difficult to enjoy the current holiday when marketing is already trying to sell you the next one!

Oh... already? Maybe its only in the "craft" stores this early. Guess they're trying to sell project supplies to those with time off after Christmas. I would imagine their sales are slow during January & their do whatever they can to get us in the store. More people will see the window while Christmas shopping & maybe you'll see something to spend your Christmas money/gift card on after the rush.
Maybe its their way of helping us through the January blues, but I think its too early!

I saw the display rack being set up at our Burlington Coat Factory for Valentines. Heart shaped items, pj's and roses.
Bath towels with hearts and cupids. Way too fast for me.

I saw the Valentines stuff at JoAnn's too! At least with a sewing project you have some excuse to start early (if you sew at my rate of speed). But the candy - it doens't make sense. And then when it really is close to Valentines, the 7-11's put out the Cadbury cream eggs for Easter!

I don't know. Of all the holidays, Valentine's is probably the one I mind the least the merchants jumping the gun on. And it's not because I have any romantic interest in it; it's just, to me, it signifies Spring and optimism and new beginnings.........even though Spring doesn't start until the following month.
I find myself looking forward to it.

If we consumers just stopped buying this stuff maybe "they" would get the hint & stop rushing life. I'm tired of it.
I know there is a reason they do this but I don't have to like it.~*Darlene*~
