    Default Has Anyone Else Noticed????????

Have you noticed the sizes of the turkeys & hams this year??
    A little background -
Since the first part of November our local grocery has been selling turkeys(limit 1) for .67 a pound-the best price they've offered in years. For the past few weeks, I have been picking up a turkey when I buy milk for the baby...and I have noticed that the sizes of the turkeys are getting smaller each week. At first, I was able to buy a18-20 pound turkey-now I am lucky if I can find a 10 pounder.
Then this past week, the store finally lowered their price on their hams to $1.19 a pound. Last year, we were able to find 15-20 lb hams(same brand)...the biggest one I could find was 10lbs.These are the best prices that this crappy place has to offer & we won't see these prices again until next year(if they decide to have a "sale"), so I picked up 2 hams(saving one for Easter).
Has anyone noticed this trend in your part of the country?

The thing I have noticed is that I would rather have the smaller size because it seems like the bigger sizes has too much fat in and on them.....

Lately I have used my coupons for the cornish game hens, because safeway had a sale......and personally I prefered the meat to any regular chicken I have had lately.

I grabbed an extra turkey at Thanksgiving time for 78 cents a lb. Lowest price I have seen in awhile. Its almost 14 lbs which will do us fine but I sure do know what you mean

Yeah, I have noticed the difference in the size too. We always fry our turkey's so we can't go over 10 lbs. in our fryer, but I do like to bake a larger ham so I can freeze the leftovers for other meals and recipes. I still have a turkey in the freezer from Thanksgiving and we will fry it Christmas morning, and hubby's work gave him a 20 lb. ham yesterday. I will bake it Christmas eve. I did find whole turkey breasts on sale for .69 lb at the IGA in Ludowici yesterday and I bought three. I froze two of them and plopped the third one in the crockpot this morning and we had it for supper tonight. It was so moist and yummy and we will make sandwiches with the leftovers tomarrow.
