Pastor's Challenge Shocks Congregation
http://news.aol.com/story/_a/pastors...00010000000001
Heard of this through FlyLady. It sounds like a wonderful idea! So I pose the question: If you were given $50 to use to help others, what would you put your money toward? What would you do with your "talents"?
I have a bread recipe that everyone absolutely loves. I would invest my $50 into the ingredients of my bread recipe, then make as many batches as I could from that $50, and then sell them for probably $3.00 (it's $1.50 to make each loaf). If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and
family centralized living, please visit my website at http://www.miniMOMist.com.

~Wow. That actually offends me. If I was in a church that did that, I wouldn't participate. In the parable the MASTER entrusted his SERVANTS with a responsibility. Believers are not servants of the church. God is the MASTER that has entrusted us with all the money we have anyway. If I chose to give money to the church it's THEIR obligation to the Master to spend it wisely. Urg.~

That's so... interesting. I can't think of a better word right now, LOL. I think I would be in shock if our church did something like that.
If it was me, I'd buy cardstock and ink and sell my handmade greeting cards.

This was a touching article. I don't think most people consider the talents they have has being something others would appreciate. I bet that whole congregation was able to appreciate the talents they discovered in themselves and each other.
I love to bake and people really enjoy eating my goodies (no complaints yet). I would take the $50 to put towards ingredients and I would bake and sell cookies (mostly), brownies, cup cakes, and banana and zucchini bread.

I love it! It makes people step out if their little boxes!
I would take the $50 and use it to buy massage oils and teach people to do couples massages!

Hmm, I don't understand how someone can be shocked about this? What's the big deal?

What a wonderful article. It brought people closer together as they worked together for a cause. Talk about spreading goodwill.
I have no idea what I would do, I would have to give that a lot of thought.
Thank you for sharing."We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

I love the idea. It wasn't about the money--it was about using their talents. I would make jewelry. Or set up a kissing booth.....kidding!!!

That's awesome, I am impressed actually.
I think I'd do a frybread sale along with some traditional Tsalagi storytelling.

I think this is a beautiful example of how lovingly a church can minister to their congregation.
I think I would use my 50$ to invest in some good toys/diapers and then offer baby-sitting services. I'm good wtih kids.McD

That's awesome. I don't have a clue what I would've done ... but I would've thought hard about it!
