Where did it all go???
DH was just looking at his final paystub of the year and saw what he grossed and what he brought home - he asked me where I'm hiding all of the money!
I was shocked at the bring home amount and we just can't figure out where it all went. We've never been big spenders, although there's always room for improvement - we don't eat out very often, we don't take expensive trips, we rarely buy new clothes......where did it all go?~Jessica

I was actually sick to my stomach when I thought about all the tax man took - in fact, the checks will be a little smaller come next month because we'll have to start paying SS tax again.
When I did the quick math in my head - the difference between his gross and his net equals almost as much as the national average income - granted I know not *all* of that was taxes (we max out the 401K and we do a Flexible Spending account for health care), but still....it was a hefty sum!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!! Our property taxes here...due on December 20 (merry Christas!!!) are over the top bad. We have rentals and oh me oh my are taxed to high heaven. The joke of it is I'm not seeing our roadways (among other things) improved at all....they are in desperate need of repair!!! Everything has went up...you can live simply and within your needs and it still goes fast!!!!!Katy

I empathize. I just saw the final number we paid to the Federal Government, excluding Medicare, SSI and Disability, and I almost passed out. I should have my own legislator because I'm paying his &$^%*@ salary. I realize it's the price we pay to live in the best country on Earth ... but my god, there has got to be a better way ...

We did the same thing this year. It's maddening! We're going to keep better records this year, try to keep track of each penny. Guess that will be my goal.
