Are You a Texter???
We don't pay for text messaging on our phones because neither of us are really "texters." Then, yesterday, my cell showed that I had a message and it turns out a friend of mine texted me a Christmas message. (I don't have to pay for it since I didn't send it)
Anyway, it seems that everyone I know is a text messaging maniac these days. I can't go anywhere without seeing people typing into their cell phones. Even when they are out to dinner with other people! Drives me crazy!

I've only had a cell phone for two years, and I have no idea how to text....sad, but true.

On our cell phones if someone sends you a text you only get charged if you open it. Are you sure you don't get charged?

I hope you are right. Our service charges even when you receive one. I am somewhat of a texter. It is the way my daughter and I stay connected. Other than that I do not.

I'm not a texter. I tell people not to text me, I have been charged for the texts I've received. I'd rather get a voicemail. I can't immagine what I would text to anyone anyway?? I don't have a camera phone either.

You can actually have your cell acct set to reject texts. We have it on dd's phone. She cannot text or receive texts.
Dh & I text sometimes, mostly because of the nature of this job. He's usually on his office phone for work, so he texts me with his cell phone. Plus his bosses (who are in another part of the state) often use text to communicate with him. His phone has unlimited texting and we are considering adding mine too.
I definitely don't get the texting or even being on the phone when you are with another person. This summer we were at a concert and the girl next to us was furiously texting someone...at a concert. I was like LOOK UP! YOU'RE MISSING IT!!
And don't even get me started with my co-eds texting during class

I'm not a texter. All of my friends text, but I hardly even use my cell phone as it is. I guess I just don't see the point.

I'm a HUGE texter, only because it saves me money. For $10/month I can send 500 txt messages & receive and additional 500 txt messages to anyone...then I have unlimited texts to those who have service through the same company as me.
The month before I added my text messaging package, I went over on my minutes and had to spend an EXTRA $74 on overages. Since I added the texting, I have to pay an extra $10, but haven't gone over my minutes once, so for me...it is a money saver.
I have friends from high school and college that live all over from Florida to Alaska, and we like to chat at least once a week. Now, instead of calling (which we still do once in a while) we just text each other updates and it saves so much money!
Plus, if I need DH to bring home milk, etc. I can just text him and it is so much easier!

We don't. But it drives me crazy when you are talking to someone and they are busy texting. I consider it ver rude.

I have 1500 txt package plan. Its $15 a month. Not frugal but I do not have long distance on my house phone, and not too many minutes on cell. So I txt my friends alot. I do not do it when with anyone, or during dinner. Its just like talking on the phone to me.
I do like to txt my ex because then we do not argue.

lol...I would love to see that. I'm actually pretty fascinated when I watch people who can text that fast. I'm a super fast typer, but when it comes to texting, can't do it

I myself don't text....my ds13 does, so he has unlimited texting. Don't get why they can't pick up the phone and call one another

We have a text plan on DH's phone because of his job - when desirable trips open up, the computer can text DH to notify him, then he sprints to the computer to trade trips - kind of annoying, but it helps get a better schedule.
I do not have a text plan, but sometimes wish I did. Its the only way I can communicate with my nephew (he's 19). He doesn't check email and doesn't return phone calls. FIL likes to send me texts just to annoy DH & I because we have to pay for it (then he mails us a quarter in the mail....)~Jessica

DBF and I text a lot, mostly while one of us is at work (because we are on opposite schedules). This allows us to answer when we can, rather than having to answer the phone. I tried to save $19.99/mo by cutting out my texting package, but it didn't work! I had it put back on the next month. I just switched over to his provider and we are on a family plan now though, so it doesn't cost us anything to text each other -- unlimited.
I hate the phone... I hardly ever talk on my phone, which is why I had the lowest amount of minutes + the 3,000 text plan.
Texting is just so much easier and more bearable for me.
